Infant School without an outdoors playground

AIBU to think that 4-7 year olds should have access to play equipment to let off steam during playtime? Our school has a vast lawn and a couple of 'quiet' areas with benches to sit on, thats it. The grass turns into a mud field when the weather is a wet. The dc seem to just chase each other around for lack of anything else to do. There are a few skipping ropes, hula hoops etc.

Does your primary school have a playground?

I also thought you meant no outside space and my first thought was how fucking dismal.

But you mean lots of lovely space without expensive equipment and I agree with others, YABU. The more props they have the less inventive they need to be.

Better without imo & ime

If you have a problem then why not offer to help?
My DC's infant school had a fabulous playground, but mainly because one parent took it on and carved up bits to be gardens etc. Most of the children got a lot of play value from the wood chip put down to keep the weeds in check. The actual "play equipment" was less used as it needed constant adult supervision, when in use.
In summer they did have crates of skipping ropes and balls etc.
The most imaginative use of space I have seen are schools in NYC which have no outside space but have created farms, growing food that is then cooked in the canteen.

Ours has very little in that vein, the kids always seem to be having a great time.

Yabu.

Children (mostly) have great imaginations.

They don't need playground equipment.

If you think they must have it. Contact the school and offer to run the fundraising needed to pay for the equipment. Most schools that do have this, have raised the money. It hasn't come out of the schools budget.

If it's that important to you. Do something about it.
