It's rank. Utterly rank. What was he thinking?

Actually, I know what he was thinking. He couldn't be bother to walk the extra two hundred yards to sainsburys and went to the shit shop instead.

Cross-post with Fastdaytears. I'd rather have naked pudding though. Confused

QueryQuery · 08/11/2015 21:49

It's ok, I've found a half box of Poppets in the cupboard.

He's probably done me a favour By eating my pudding as its spared me having either Elmlea (spit) or naked cake.

fast your puddings need never be naked because you can always keep ice cream in the freezer and use that instead Grin

fastdaytears · 08/11/2015 21:49

I could but there never seems to be any when I get there. And I live on my own.

BrendaandEddie · 08/11/2015 21:50

oh god its FINE for cooking , pasta sauces etc

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/11/2015 21:52

DD1 bought it today instead of real cream. No idea why, and she can't say either! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

ShamelessBreadAddict · 08/11/2015 22:00

My OH studied Chemical Engineering and they covered the manufacturing process for Elmlea. He won't eat it... and he happily eats microwave pizzas.

ragged · 08/11/2015 22:00

I actually wanted a non-dairy sub for real cream. As high fat as possible, but Elmlea seems to market self as low fat (I think). I couldn't find it with the real cream.

ShamelessBreadAddict · 08/11/2015 22:02

ragged coconut cream (the solid part of a can of coconut milk which has been in the fridge) might work for you?

GloriaSmellens · 08/11/2015 22:05

Yes, I have bought elmlea on more than one occasion thinking it was cream.

Bastards.

ZenNudist · 08/11/2015 22:08

I like elm lea! Blush

I also eat spread

BigChocFrenzy · 08/11/2015 22:11

You sent him for cream and he returns with Elmlea Shock
Divorce is too good for the lazy sod.
Hang him up by his thumbs and flog him with cat o' nine tails.

romeomorningwhisky · 08/11/2015 22:13

I'm feeling like a creamy failure as I had no idea Elmlea was an imposter & would pick it up first if I ever needed cream.
Going to have to do some research in the very near future !!

As for eating your pudding, cut his thieving hands off... Won't happen again.

Moomintroll85 · 08/11/2015 22:13

I have bought it before as I didn't even know it wasn't real cream until I opened this thread Blush

I'm now worried what other bad shit I have been eating for my entire life up until this point. Must pay more attention when shopping...

StormyBlue · 08/11/2015 22:29

Oh god haha...

I once spent AGES trying to hand whisk double cream to thicken, and it never did, just gave me a dead arm.

It was Elmlea and I just realised that must have been why. I never knew it wasn't real cream!

NorahBone · 08/11/2015 22:33

I was always puzzled by their "the real alternative to cream" thing. It's not lower in fat, dairy-free or cheaper. I didn't realise it had such a long shelf-life, though.

Cocolepew · 08/11/2015 22:37

I like it Smile

Cocolepew · 08/11/2015 22:38

Mine you I was brought up on Dream Topping. God only knows what was in that.

NothingNewUnderTheSun · 08/11/2015 22:39

I've never tried it au naturel but it's very very good for cooking. But that's not the point - it wasn't what you wanted and he was being a lazy knob so for that reason alone YANBU and he should obviously sleep in the shed tonight.

treaclesoda · 08/11/2015 22:40

Dream Topping. That's what goes on top of your Birds Trifle Smile

Which you'd probably be having straight after the Findus Crispy Pancakes

Gunpowder · 08/11/2015 22:43

DH did exactly the same to me once. There was nearly a divorce.

QueryQuery · 08/11/2015 22:43

I coveted Findus Crispy Pancakes as a child, but they were forbidden as they were nasty muck.

OP posts:
RickRoll · 08/11/2015 22:44

Elmlea is disgusting nasty shite, made from palm oil which is destroying the planet.

pourmeanotherglass · 08/11/2015 22:49

It doesn't taste that bed, we've had it from the corner shop which doesn't sell proper cream.

clockbuscanada · 08/11/2015 23:00

The idea of pouring vegetable oil all over my pudding makes me gag. My ILs are obsessed with it, they think anything made in a factory beats out the natural version, because science.
