to ask, what should I do this weekend alone in London? I AM SO BORED

Any suggestions?

I am sick and tired of hardly doing anything nice because I'm alone all the time. Close friends have gone all quiet at the moment, I assume because they are busy. Other friends have invited me out clubbing but I don't want to go drinking and hanging round a sweaty club all night. So yes it's my choice that I'm stuck home alone, but I don't want to go clubbing.

In an ideal world I'd have some company for good conversation and a laugh over drinks. That's not happening, so what should I do instead?

Open to all ideas! Except I don't really have any posh clothes so maybe things like afternoon tea at the Savoy are not going to work. Other than that, what exciting or fun or pleasant things can I do in London on my own?

Don't know what side of London you're on but the Blackheath fireworks are on tonight- free and fabulous Smile

Have you heard of meet up? Great way of finding new friends/company when you fancy it, many groups based on age, location or interest. Phone's playing up and won't let me link.

There's a free art exhibition at the Southbank Centre - Re:Form. Art created by prisoners, immigration detainees and people in secure institutions. Free guided tours at 130 and 4 I think.

Should be pretty interesting - I'm taking my mum today!

Imperial war museum is fab, a look round harrods never goes amiss. Tinder is a surprisingly good shout - I went on a few dates through okcupid before meeting OH and always had a nice time even if we didn't click romantically. It's a good way to meet new people - meet up is also great for this as there are loads of different interests and even just going yo the pub or cinema. They have an app too

East London
Today - Broadway market in Hackeny is great. Lots of street food while you walk around so no need to feel ackward sitting on your own for a meal. Geoffrey museum near the flower market tomorrow is lovely... not crowded and not full of couples with kids.

National trust Sutton house is quiet and lovely to visit.

Pavilion cafe at Victoria park, if you're by Mile End. You can feed lots of lovely ducks too. Popular and crowded with families at weekend lunch times but lots of hipsters having a meal on their own on weekday.

Camden market, walk along the canal.
Primrose hill, when Camden is too crowded, to browse shops and grab drink. Head toward Regent park and there's a few pubs enroute.

Sounds a bit cheesy, but have you tried a guided walk? They're done by independent guides so there's all types. I went on a couple and was expecting it to be all tourists, but it wasn't.

Get on a bus and travel the whole route there and back. Hop off when you see a shop or building that looks interesting.

Go somewhere like the V&A or the British Museum unhampered by anyone else being bored or needing a wee and just wander.

Have a look at www.freelondonevents.co.uk. Today is wet and blustery perfect for indulging in a museum or art gallery.

Baozi Inn in Chinatown is lovely. It's tiny and much easier to get a seat for one than two.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 07/11/2015 10:43

Theatre! One seat is often easy to get as a return on sold out shows - why not try your luck for th Benedict cumbwrbatch or Nicole Kidman shows?

Go to the Opera!

Can highly recommend the crime museum exhibition this the museum of London (I didn't have time to do the museum too but it looks really good too).

I'm single, so do understand the bored thing, but I like more rurally. I would find it very hard to be bored if I lived in London. I go up regularly and often don't plan what to do because there is so much to do there. Sometimes I can spend a whole morning just going round Foyle's bookshop. Or spend an hour in one of the parks. So many museums, including some really quirky ones, and many of the big ones are free.

You could give yourself a "project". I checked off all the Wren churches in the City one year. They're all fabulously beautiful and interesting and so few people go in them.

noeffingidea · 07/11/2015 12:00

If I was alone in London right now I would be walking along the embankment. Just looking at the Thames lifts my heart.

Hi, Onewomanshow; if you're at a loose end next Saturday (14th Nov), then there's an informal, but fun (we hope!)
