Nicole Kidman: "Face of the meerkats"

I forgave Paul Whitehouse for the awful Aviva / Norwich Union ads as it'd been a while since the Fast Show but I've just seen Nicole Kidman on a "Compare The Market / Meerkat" ad. AIBU to be a bit Shock

The Kevin Bacon ad campaign is somehow not cringey. Think they strike the right note, somehow. Plus, he is very likeable. Not that Nicole isn't. I'd like her more if she'd twat that meerkat with her handbag, though.

I've always been Team Tom Grin.Good actor in (mostly) good films and a devoted dad.

DingleberryDip · 05/11/2015 12:01

Devoted Dad? I thought poor old Suri was persona non grata since leaving Scientology.

DingleberryDip · 05/11/2015 12:01

And definitely not a good actor!

JoffreyBaratheon · 05/11/2015 12:03

Those eyebrows!

Sorry, I mean; that eyebrow!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 05/11/2015 12:07

It's a good deal all round, really.

It's surprisingly lucrative for the celebrity, regardless of the brand, and it puts them back infront of a mass audience, which makes casting directors think that they are still "relevant" and newsworthy.

You just have to get over the fact that you used to be making high budget films and now you are selling broadband/insurance/bread.

Its the being involved in a evil cult thing that makes me dislike him.

Hygge · 05/11/2015 13:05

I love the Kevin Bacon ads, he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously and he did do the Footloose dance in one of them.

I was a bit gutted about Harvey Keitel at first, but there's something about the way he says "fit a bur-ger-ler alarm" that I like. It's like the way Snoop Dogg says "supermarket", it's lovely. Blush

WMittens · 05/11/2015 13:08

wecanbuthope same here.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/11/2015 06:45

I like the Kevin Bacon are too. At least he's carrying the as. Nicole is playing second fiddle to a meerkat and I've always hated those meerkats

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/11/2015 06:46

The ad not the as Hmm

Tram10 · 06/11/2015 06:55

I know, they all make huge money doing ads that are region specific.

I did a double take when I saw a Lux soap advertisement in Japan that starred Catherine Zeta Jones, not exactly high end, and for someone who publicly stated that a million quid is not a lot of money to her. Makes you wonder how much she must have earned to be tempted by it.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 06/11/2015 07:09

I wish someone would offer me millions of pounds for a few days work

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 06/11/2015 07:14

I like the Jeff Goldblum adverts for Curry's

I like the Kevin Bacon adverts for EE

NIcole Kidman looks a little scary in those ads she laughs and her face apart from her mouth doesn't move

I know! And her eyes look tiny, like little piss holes in the snow!

MrsBertMacklin · 06/11/2015 07:45

I read it as a definite pisstake of Tom Cruise. The expose of scientology in the news this week is further proof for me that anyone subscribed to it is either damaged, naive or a cunt.

Chippednailvarnish · 06/11/2015 07:49

I've never forgotten her "acting" in the Chanel advert.

Appearing with a couple of flea infested meerkats seems a fitting punishment!

DingleberryDip · 07/11/2015 18:15

Love Jeff Goldblum's ads for Curry's!

EastMidsMummy · 07/11/2015 18:44

As Frank Skinner says, "How much money do these people need?"

DingleberryDip · 07/11/2015 18:52

Skinner would bite off their hand if he was offered one of these ads!
