To have my tonsils out because of tonsil stones

I've been having loads of problems with these horrid tasting, smelling yellow tonsil stones. I've got quite big holes in my tonsils so tonsil stones gather. I've been to the hospital about getting them removed. They are happy to do it but I'm just not sure what to do. It's obviously not life and death,I'm just unsure to go ahead or not. Has anyone had any experience with tonsil stones or had tonsils out?

I didnt start to get tonsilitis until I was an adult.

Also I could only eat Mini Eggs for 10 days and put half a stone on Hmm

I had mine removed at 37 due to recurring quinsy (where abscesses form on the tonsils which can block the airway and turn life threatening.

That was 12 years ago now and it was the best decision I ever made. I have had no problems at all with my throat since then.

Yes, it is true that tonsils are there for a reason and as a first line of defence, but sometimes they actually become the problem, as happened to me and to others on here. That is when it is time to get rid of them.

Go for it, I say. You might find that your only regret is not having had it done sooner.

I had my tonsils out as an adult , it was so worth it! I had recurring tonsillitis ridiculous amounts of time in a year and having them out was the best thing I have ever done. No more sore throats, colds, flu, I'm actually hardly ever Ill now.
Apparently my tonsils were huge, a gross part of me wished I could of seen them after surgery.

Thanks everyone,it's been great to read your advice and experience. I'll give the hospital a ring tomorrow to make another appointment.
