And I may/ am definitely one of them I think but what makes contentment?

My husband and I have taken a 6 month career break and moved to sun, sea and R&R after a few stressful years in high powered jobs. Now I'm here, I'm bored. Bored shitless. We may move for the remainder of our time to Bali, but I'm concerned that it's just a matter of time before I'm bored there too.

We both have a shared hobby out here and are both finishing studies to keep the mind active but I don't know if it enough. We're only 2 months in and I want to go back to work already. However, I'll kick myself if we leave for home to work.

Is there such a thing as contentment over a long period of time and am I having a massive mid life crisis!

Is this a stealth boast? It is a bit insensitive to moan about how boring it is to not have to work for 6 months and be able to jet off to Bali, not many people on here will be in the same position. How the other half lives!

On the off chance that you are serious then you might want to get checked for depression as that can lead to loss of interest in activities, pessimism and feelings of boredom. Of course it's hard to get help on the NHS but I somehow sense you won't have that problem...

Nothing drives couples apart more than spending more time together. It's one reason the 60 somethings are divorcing in droves as when you retire you are together more.

Lovely bombing Exco! Deogratis, yep, we are certainly not used to spending soooo much time together! We both worked offshore and abroad a lot so could be a couple of months before we saw each other so it's certainly an eye opener!

I realise that but this is taking it to it's worst extreme surely? There's a difference between talking about a holiday and moaning about how 6 months in Bali is boring! I don't really have a problem with some people having more, I have a problem with them not being grateful for what they have! Sorry but you can't expect universal pity on AIBU! Some people will think the OP is, it's how it works!

I haven't had a holiday in years I don't mind people moaning about how difficult long haul flights with kids are. Although I would love to have that problem. I certainly don't believe people should not post because I really want a holiday.

I think the title of the thread is generally about people who are never content, no matter what, no matter where and it certainly wasn't a pity party either! Theres been some decent discussion about therapy, self help books and experiences (and even random meal planning!)

I'm humble to what I have and what I'm doing, but believe me, I've been through the mill, of which I won't go into in fear of seeking pity as you seem to think this is about. Go take the tattie field of chips that are welded to your shoulder elsewhere dreary.
