To not expect fireworks going off every night

It's almost 2 weeks to bonfire night and we've already had fireworks every night this week. AIBU to be annoyed when they start 10 minutes after I've put DD to bed?

Well you can't use them til it's dark. Which coincides with bedtime I guess

Fireworks divide opinion. But from now until New Years eve they'll be a bit of a feature.

Yanbu. I really love fireworks when they're done well. I don't like the local teenagers letting them off dangerously in the streets - someone's shed was set alight a couple of years ago. And peoples' private parties if done safely k can just about tolerate even if they do wake the baby and frighten the dog.

Same here. The dog is embarking on her annual month of barking her head off all evening every evening for four frigging weeks solid while we enjoy the joyful experience (in an overcrowded housing estate in a town stuffed with overcrowded housing estates and tiny gardens) of spent firework cases raining down on roofs, cars and yards since the idiot setting them off didn't read the instructions about needed distance and thinks they just vaporise magically into thin air once they leave their six foot square yard.

Love watching them, but hate the endless bloody onslaught its become. They need to be restricted now to licenced displays only and time limited to the day itself and the Friday night/weekends on either side.

I love watching them too, though don't see the need for ones that only make a noise but think selling them should be restricted to a couple of days before bonfire night or to licensed displays. I also think councils should be required to inform local residents about any displays in the area. Last year we had an event staged right behind us a week after bonfire night with absolutely no warning so I ended up comforting a terrified 6 month old and a frightened cat hiding under the bed.

I don't know why you wouldn't expect them really, as they've been on sale for quite a while.

We've had them most nights for the last fortnight. Dog has been ecstatically trying to climb the fence every time one goes off, most dogs cower at them, ours wants to kill and eat them all. Spaniels are idiots.

Two DCs here love them, and our cats are all a bit ignorant and couldn't give a shite about anything other than food, so none of us mind. I did mind the first year DS2 was born though as he was terrified by them and the displays seemed to go on for weeks.

Except it hasn't always been like that were we live. Ours is a small village with mostly young families and one regular organised display. Over the last 3-4 years there's been a steady increase in private parties and teenagers setting them off in the streets.
I suppose it's a bit of a shock to the system when you don't expect them and then suddenly your baby's being woke by them every night.

I think it's inconsiderate at best and dangerous at worst. The proper displays are much more enjoyable than one or two poorly done ones.

Pre dog I loved fireworks. Now I just want silent ones. Between October and New Year, with Diwali, guy Fawkes, Christmas, New Year, the odd death or birthday, it's non stop.

they start mid/late October stop for a short time in November and then start in December until 2nd January.

I've always thought fireworks should only be sold to professional displays only. In an ideal world you'd need a license to conduct a display.

I do love fireworks but round here they go off constantly throughout the year. They seem to set off fireworks for everything from early evening in broad daylight (which is a complete waste of time) into the early hours.

It gets worse around Diwali and bonfire night.

Fed up of my almost 4 year old waking up upset because of the bloody noise.

My dog is so terrified of fireworks she pees on the floor everything she hears a bang... My vax carpet cleaner gets a lot of use between October and December...

There's no need for fireworks to be sold to the general public. Licence holders only, and for licenced displays only.

I wish people had more consideration for others, it would be nice for a change.

For me, the ones when it just gets dark are not too bad (not great though), but around midnight? Is that really necessary?

We can hear the odd pop in the distance, but nothing "scary" or likely to wake anyone up....

Lidi are selling them by the tills not in locked cabinet like adsa used to do .
This is just making it easier for people to get hold them.

No have double glazing but the dog has super sensitive hearing. And what it means is she refuses to go in the garden hence the puddles...
