to think that 8 weeks is long enough?

I work part time in a Cake shop. The hours are great and I really enjoy my job. 8 weeks ago a colleague left. The other part timer and I agreed to do extra hours, until the vacancy was filled. 8 weeks later we're still doing about twice our contracted hours. I know the extra money is always handy, but I enjoy my contracted hours. AIBU in thinking that 8 weeks is long enough to fill the vacancy?

YANBU

I would think your boss is happy with the status quo with you and your colleague taking up the slack, it's saves him/her the hassle of recruiting.

I guess you could either subtly bring it up or if you're happy to do the extra leave things as they are.

Yes.
It should be.
Maybe the owner / manager thinks you are happy to have the extra money?

I would suggest you say that you hope the advertisements are in, as you won't be able to do all the extra hours after {insert date around about mid-November}. You don't need to give them a reason why, remember, it is you that is helping them out.

In s cake shop you're probably right. I work for s local suthority. We started vacancy management in March and still don't have people in post.

You need to speak to your boss and tell him you can't do the extra hours. Say you don't mind helping out on a temp basis but you its not doable long term.

It's possible that they think you would prefer to have the extra hours (not that unusual, most people would especially at this time of year) or they may think it's working better this way.

Posted too soon. If you have a chat you may find out that they are struggling to find someone. Tbh, I used to own a cafe, it was nightmare getting staff.
