To ask GP about my torn labia 1 year later?

Apologies for the 'beautiful' title.

I gave birth just over a year ago but I've been too embarrassed to go to the GP about this issue. The midwife delivering dd was going to give me an episiotomy but didn't do it in time. So when dd came out my labia unfortunately ripped and the stitches didn't hold. I had PND and didn't want the midwife looking down there despite knowing that something was wrong.

Anyway now I'm left with a torn labia and it looks (sorry) and feels like I have 3 clits. It hurts to wipe and to do anything sexual.

Have I left it too late to get it fixed?

Ask for a second opinion. Did you tell her you were unable to have sex?

Definitely see another GP at the surgery and be very clear about wanting a referral to gyne.

I went back after 3 months because I had a piece of labia hanging down that had been missed when I gave birth.

I got a referral straight away and after a complaint to the ceo of the hospital trust about them missing the tear and the whole poor experience of the labour ward, I got seen pretty quickly and was operated on as a day case a few weeks later.

9 years later, I have no problems but I did have to make a bit of a fuss to get it done quickly.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I get the impression some GPs at the moment are really digging their heels in about any referrals to hospital specialists. You're obviously going to have to go back and lay it on with a trowel, not easy I know with this sort of problem.
And what the hell is the Canestan supposed to do?

See another gp/go back.

Sounds like some hoops you have to jump through before referral!

GO BACK! I got told by midwives etc that all was fine… gynaecologist said differently.
