...in order to catch the big black house spider which ran behind it?

We only noticed its presence when JohnCat climbed in the curtains to try and catch it. It promptly fell on the floor and ran behind a chest of drawers (which I made DP move). Spider has since inconveniently relocated to behind the wardrobe. I'm now pretty much permanently staring at the wardrobe, waiting for it to appear.

Tempted to sleep in the car.

I was just winding the op up with my post, I really didn't mean it. I am however now going to hide under my bed as my all time phobia has appeared on the thread....referencing! If it becomes mandatory on mumsnet I may have to flounce to nethuns.

Nonnainglese · 21/10/2015 20:30

If the bloody things are frightened of us why do they come in the sodding house?

I hate the hairy, fast moving ones, I have refused to sleep in the bedroom if I can't get DH to remove it.

lunar, I absolutely got that you were trying to wind me up. The thread was never meant to be serious, but some people appear to have taken it that way.

Shame.

I've also recommended burning the house down at the presence of a spider beforeGrin

I had another one today! Angry

At least this one just sat where it landed (fell out of some laundry I hadn't folded yet), presumably somewhat dazed. I had time to grab a glass and a card in order to catch it.

I might head in to the woods tomorrow to get some conkers. Grin

Why are people scared of spiders? They are harmless insects

AAAAAARGH!

Harmless they may be, but insects they most certainly are not. Angry

My phobia (not telling what it is) is so bad than when my phobia animal appeared in the kitchen one evening I barricaded myself in the bedroom. No friends or neighbours or relatives were available to help me so I stayed there until the following morning, so missing dinner and breakfast. I left a note asking my flatmate to deal with it. It was a very fractious night.

My best friend runs screaming next door at the sight of a spider. Next door's teenage son has got used to it and just ambles over, removes the spider and gratefully receives the bottle of wine as thanks without a word.
