I know I am :) but wonder how many other 'doggy' people are put out if a normally friendly dog doesn't like you ? I love dogs and most dogs 'take to me' (because I will talk/pet/play anything furry) - but a friend has this adorable Pug that love everyone - except me - and I am always amused by how pissed off this makes me.

All dogs hate me. I'm like Dexter.

I work night shifts and walk home at the same time the early morning dog-walkers are out and about.

They all snarl, growl and strain on their leads as I approach. Annoying.

I am very much a cat person, though. Maybe they sense it?

I'm quite allergic to cats so totally ignore any I come into contact with, hoping they'll leave me alone. Of course they all make a bee line for me and want to sit on my lap. My friend explained that cats don't like direct eye contact and so, by ignoring them, I was showing that I was safe. I then tried looking at them and talking to them - they, of course, made a bee line for me and tried to sit on my lap.

Animals are perverse. Take some dog treats in your pocket next time you go over and eat them in front of him. That'll learn him Wink

One of mine is a snooty thing....but is a GSD so he has decided he really doesn't need any friends, is just NOT interested in anything unless you have a lovely tennisball or anyone other than family.

He was supposed to be a guide dog and we would regularly be stalked around shops by GSD fans DYING to get their hands on him, but no, he would refuse to engage with them. One particular couple who used to breed shepherds fell completely in love with him and he actually walked around me and sat out of their reach to stop them stroking him! We had said he was aloof, but she was determined to talk to him. ...she was a bit vexed :o

My dad is scared of my bunny.

Gets proper freaked out if she bounces up to him.

As you can see, she is terrifying.

Dogs are supposed to to be able to tell if people aren't nice aren't they? (Just saying!!!!! Smile

My Mum has become a mad cat lady. She hates cats, thinks they're "tricky little sods" yet wherever she goes she ends up with cats all over her.

We've got 2 and whenever she comes here she ends up with them both on her lap, if she ever visits friends with cats they make a beeline straight for her. The more she ignores them or kicks them off, the more they climb all over her.

My Dad really quite likes cats. They totally snub him in favour of my cat hating Mum.

tabulahrasa · 17/10/2015 10:46

I don't mind when cats don't like me, mine do so that's fine, lol.

But dogs usually do like me, like someone else said, I smell of dog and I usually have a pocket full of biscuits, plus I (not on purpose I might add) have dog friendly body language...so the odd time when one doesn't like me I do tend to get all humpty about it.

I have tried treats , sitting on the floor avoiding eye contact - everything - the little bastard just hates me and sits guarding its food bowl ( I am a bit porky so that may be it ) - It loves everyone else and if anyone else visits while I am there, it makes a huge fuss of them and brings them balls and toys . :( it does piss me off lol

my mum likes cats, my ILs do not. Guess who they like to sit on and try to get in to sleep with?

Heyheyheygoodbye · 17/10/2015 11:01

I have cats, love them, but I am given to understand that one of the pros of dogs is that they don't make you work quite so hard for their affection. That's why it's so irksome when they don't like me Grin luckily my family's dogs treat me like the second coming which is always a good ego boost!

I love all animals. I even love spiders and snakes and things. I just want them all to be my friend /crazy Doolittler

OwlFeathersFluff · 17/10/2015 11:10

KingJoffrey those dogs probably hate everyone - which is why they are being walked so early in the morning!

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 17/10/2015 11:25

My friend's Rottie likes me but he's less of a dog and more of a teddy...

OnIlkelyMoorBahtat · 17/10/2015 13:45

My dad has a friend whose lovely sweet-natured labrador for some inexplicable reason hates my dad so much that whenever dad goes round to visit, she pulls his coat off the rack with her teeth and deposits it by the front door! It's almost like she's saying "Oi you - OUT!"

MrsJayy · 17/10/2015 13:57

Ive just been snubbed by a bull mastiff that lives in my mums street I see her most days i go to see mum and she likes a fuss today she plodded past me the owner shouted her over but nope not even a glance in my direction i am quite offended Grin

StarkyTheDirewolf · 17/10/2015 15:03

If it makes you feel any better, my dog decides she doesn't like me on occasion.

For example, this week, she needed her nails clipping, she HATES having her nails clipped. She weighs about 5lb and is a tiny chihuahua, she is happy to unleash hell if you try to touch her paws. So she has to go to the vets and be sedated to have it done. I asked my dad and Dsis if they wouldn't mind doing it as they were going past the vets and I have to sit and fuss the other dog as he gets really confused and weepy if she leaves him co-dependant bloody animal.

So, a little while later she arrives home, I go out to greet her, ignores me. Oh she's still a little groggy thinks I, nope, she continued to staunchly snub me for the next six hours, even going so far as to sit as far away as possible and then when I moved to give her a stroke, she growled at me and moved to a different chair! I offered treats, she looked at me like I was trying to poison her, but accepted them off my Dsis. It was at 7pm that night that she decides she was talking to me again and allowed me to sit next to her. It wasn't even me that took her, but she clearly knew it was my fault! I swear she's part cat.
