Totally inspired by the awesome Gavin and Stacey thread and not to hijack that one thought I would ask this.

I live in Stella. Pontyberry is EXACTLY like my town. (In fact some of it IS my town massive claim to fame drop ). Me and my friends often say how familiar the characters are. We could spend some time comparing them to people we know.

I think when you can resonate with aspects a programme becomes more real, and a sitcom more funny.

So I'd like to know where in telly land you think you live because I'm nosy

Emmerdale- My Family are the Dingles - possibly would have been Mandy Dingle back in the day!

Jollyphonics · 16/10/2015 12:20

Funny, when I was in my late 20s I loved Friends, and used to wish my life was like that. Now I'm in my mid 40s I look back and realise that my life actually was like Friends! There was a group of us, all in and out of relationships, used to spend hours at eachother's houses (used to get together to watch Friends in fact!), lots of socialising etc - obviously we weren't beautiful like they were but apart from that it was pretty similar in retrospect.

In my 30s my life was definitely Bridget Jones' Diary.

Now it's probably Outnumbered.

GoofyIsACow · 16/10/2015 12:53

No DH isn't a sexist layabout, that's the difference!

HaydeeofMonteCristo · 16/10/2015 14:17

Probably something like "the crystal maze" where a series of impossible tasks have to be done against the clock. Or some more up to date equivalent.

Sometimes it could be entitled "pointless", for instance if I have tried to tidy up...

Royston Vasey Confused

ghostyslovesheep · 16/10/2015 14:20

Outnumbered ish - 3 kids 1 adult!

PennyHasNoSurname · 16/10/2015 14:35

Modern Family. Busy working parents, fudging through what the jeff to do with each kid at whatever stage they need, very very close to my extended family, and DH is basically like an extra kid.

KeepCalm74 · 16/10/2015 14:37

Outnumbered again but with a shitter house and a stroppy DH! Would love to live in Modern Family

BolshierAryaStark · 16/10/2015 14:38

Growing up it was definitely Shameless, now it's outnumbered.

troubleinstore · 16/10/2015 16:58

Everybody loves Raymond ... DH and my arguments are exactly the same!

Iloveadrianmole · 16/10/2015 17:08

A cross between the Prisoner and The Stepford Wives.

Lara2 · 16/10/2015 17:46

A mixture of The Middle and Big Bang Theory!

hebihebi · 16/10/2015 17:51

Malcolm in the Middle.

theredlion · 16/10/2015 17:57

Awkward.

But I wish I lived in the original Dallas Grin

theredlion · 16/10/2015 17:57

I meant we live in Awkward the television show.

SwedishEdith · 16/10/2015 18:02

Yes, to Butterflies.

The Bridget Jones's Diaries were first in the Independent when I was in my late 20s/early 30s. It was as though I was reading my own life. Mixed up with This Life.
