What can I make with a bag of porridge oats?

Apart from porridge! I have an absolutely massive bag - anyone got any ideas on how to use it up? Preferably something relatively simple, as I'm rubbish at complicated cooking or baking and don't own much equipment.

definitely add to any crumble (apple, pear, blackberry etc);

add to your bath water for a gentle moisture surge;

Heh, didn't mean to post in AIBU - too many tabs open! Thanks so much for all your ideas though, I'm really uninspired when it comes to things like this. I've probably got enough oats to try out a good number of suggestions.

google Twink's Hob Nobs.

These are amazing - especially sandwiched with melted chocolate or chocolate spread. You can roll, them cut them and then freeze them to bake at a later date.

Doreen Twinks hob nobs sounds like something I'd rather not Google tbh... Lol. Shock

  • Anzac biscuits or slice. But aim for them to be a touch undercooked so they are chewy. Mmmm...
  • Use it to make crumble topping. A cup or so of oats, a tablespoon of plain flour, cinnamon, a couple of tablespoons of brown sugar and about 1/4 cup of melted butter. Mix it all up and put on top of sliced fruit of your choice and bake until golden.

Mix with glitter for a shedload of 'reindeer food' to flog at the school Christmas Fair.

Why would you put them in tights in the bath? The mind boggles...

Oatmeal in bathwater is good for the skin. Old remedy for skin complaints.

Skirlie, flapjacks, bircher museli, granola

Have you got a hand blender? You can grind oats into flour in it & make healthy and tasty blueberry pancakes - little American style ones.

A cup of oats (ground up first), two eggs, a banana, about 50g yoghurt, splash of milk if needed. Blend all together to make batter. Fry for about five mins (2.5 mins each side) Dot blueberries into the mixture after you've poured it into pan. Makes about 8 little pancakes - enough for two people.

Put some homemade tasty chicken stock in a pan. Add enough oats for the mixture to thicken, a bit thicker than porridge. Let it stand for 5 minutes. Cook over a low heat, stirring frequently, it's ready when it forms a solid ball. Eat it whilst it's warm. Good with casseroles and any meat in a sauce.

Oatcakes. Excellent eaten with a slice or three of cheese on top. Smile

5 mug cake

Mug of oats
Mug of self raising flour
Must of caster sugar
Mug of milk
Mug of mixed fruit/dried apricots/odds and end of nuts etc

Stir it all together well and bake.

It is so delicious.
