To think there should be a law stopping cars from parking on public streets

Went on a long journey with DP today through quite a few villages with small winding roads the roads are supposed to be split into 2 one sides obviously but most of thses roads could only have 1 side of the road used because inconsiderate people in the houses had parked their cars in the road blocking the entire left side so cars had to take turns crossing around them on the right side i think you should only own a car if you have somewhere to park it off road like a driveway or garage its a health and safety risk with cars trying not to smash into each other winding around these parked cars and people trying to cross safely its like buying a horse and not having a stable to keep it in imo there should be some sort of law as well as yellow lines to stop this happening

Ha ha ha, what a stupid thread.

LosingTheWillToSkate · 13/10/2015 20:13

Hahaha!!!

My house was built in the 1800's. I guess drives and garages just weren't tha high on their priority list, selfish bastards ;-)

LadyLuck81 · 13/10/2015 21:07

I live in a cul de sac AND have a drive and a garage.

Grin

Do I win something. Will the OP give me a cake or something.

Huntthepigsear · 13/10/2015 21:10

ladyluck I live in a cul de sac ( sort of) and have a double garage and drive. I think I win. Grin

Andrewofgg · 13/10/2015 21:15

Losing That's no excuse. After all, the Romans built their road to Bath neat to Heathrow, didn't they?

Bubblesinthesummer · 13/10/2015 21:26

bubbles don't be so selfish, what's you being unable to leave home compared to the extra 3 seconds to negotiate your car for op. So inconsiderate of you grin

I have spaces on my drive and live near many villages and towns where the damed inconsiderate residents park on the roads near their houses.

I would like to offer my drive to them so OP is not inconvenienced by these terrible people any longer.

Of course it will mean the residents have to walk at least 5 miles along unlit country roads with deep drainage ditches at either side. But hey, if a few die in the attempt we can knock down their houses to make parking.

paddypants13 · 13/10/2015 21:43

*Damned inconsiderate.

ComposHatComesBack · 13/10/2015 21:46

Oh and if you were in serious danger of smashing into incoming cars you were driving like a twat by driving too fast, being inconsiderate, or impatient or in all likelihood a combination of all three.

Learn to drive properly or take the bus.

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 13/10/2015 21:49

Yabvu and ridiculous

I say this as someone who has a parking space but no car

coffeeisnectar · 13/10/2015 21:49

Oh dear. We've just moved from a house with a drive big enough for three cars to a house with no drive. We have a garage but it's full of man-stuff like bits of wood and our two cars are parked on the road. And our camper van will be here once it's been fixed.

Where's the firing squad?

msgrinch · 13/10/2015 21:51

Maybe the parking spaces are hidden in the same place as the OP's punctuation.

Anyway, anyone fancy a pop tart?

Passmethecrisps · 13/10/2015 21:57

Ok. I admit to not reading the whole thread so I could easily have missed numerous posters agreeing with op.

I live in a lovely wee village where the vast majority of the houses were built pre-car. In fact, for a very long time the only way of getting to anywhere of significance was by boat.

My feeling is that if you want to navigate your way through my charming village you should either be using a hover craft or a broomstick so as not to disturb our peace with your presence.

TeamScoutRifle · 13/10/2015 22:10

Oh dear op you are going to hate me then as I live on a street like that and we have....2 cars parked on it! Oops. Grin
Luckily though we are all very civilised and manage to get up and down the street giving each other turns to pass without an issue. Phew. Wink

NumbBlaseCold · 13/10/2015 22:14

Most of the small winding villagey roads tend to be NSL for some stupid reason.

Or idiots treat them as such even if not.

We have many around us some that are NSL yet should only be 30mp at most and some that are not but are sometimes treated as shuch and they are meeting place roads too.

I am very happy that people park on these roads.

They do so in full view so you are not surprised even if you are speeding like an idiot or trying to hit the NSL because you are too stupid to see the road is not suitable for it .

It means drivers who are too stupid to see that they should not be doing that speed have no choice but to slow down and avoid killing the pedestrians, cyclists, good drivers, pheasants, sheep and horses which often crop up surprisinglyto the bad driver.

Passmethecrisps · 13/10/2015 22:19

I rather enjoy the friendly turn taking to pull in and wave.

Or maybe op is one of those drivers who reduces me to a rage by either forcing their way through with a look of grim determination despite it being my right of way or who stoutly refuses to meet my eye or wave or acknowledge me at all when i have given way.

I should start my own thread really

LeftMyRidingCropInTheMortuary · 13/10/2015 22:32

Sheldon has a "spot" but no car. I love him.

Andrewofgg: I laughed at the no fucks and no grips. Thanks.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 13/10/2015 22:43

Trying to navigate around all these goady obstacles in AIBU is tricky too. Please park them off the public internet.
