And then sent them in to nursery, can just FOTTFSOFATFOSM.

I mean SERIOUSLY. We got told last week by the nursery that there had been an 'incident', and to be on the lookout for signs of infection, then a friend who works there told me what had actually happened (though of course not which child) and I am Shock. Nursery policy is 48 hours after the spots appear AND the child has to be well in themselves. Apparently this little one was coughing and spluttering everywhere and it was the first day the spots had appeared.

DS now has it and I'm going down with it. I know the child was infectious before it was showing but who the hell does that?!

Just argh!

When DD had HF&M we had recently been playing with one of her friends who was diagnosed by a GP as having chicken pox. A few days later when I said that DD had HF&M, her mother became suspicious as here DD's 'chicken pox' were on her feet, hands and in her mouth. Unfortunately her GP had been wrong as proven by her getting chicken pox 2 weeks later.

So I think it can be misdiagnosed. DD's could have been missed as she had a very sore mouth, but only one spot on one foot and none on her hands. I'm pretty certain that she had infected her nursery before the spots appeared as she was off nursery for a while due to just being too ill for nursery. And by the time she got back the other children had started to go down with it.

Our nursery won't give calpol (unless for some sort of long term prescribed thing). They say if you're ill enough to need calpol, then you aren't well enough to be in nursery. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

YANBU to be upset with this mother for being dishonest and trying to hide it. But YABVU to use this stupid acronym 'FOTTFSOFATFOSM'. Honestly, its not cool or smart or hard hitting or funny.

Theres no need to exclude with HF&M but putting makeup over it is just... odd??

YANBU, DS1 had this at the start of the year. He was fine, just a bit spotty, but I got it from him and it was one of the worst things I've ever experienced. My skin felt like it was on fire for 2 days and the only thing I could do to stop the itch was to keep my hands and feet in a bucket of cold water. I would not wish it on anyone. I'm really surprised that you don't have to keep kids home with it.
