Its sunny and warm in the sun today in the south west. I can still get a decent amount of sun on days like today right?

I probably shouldn't bother but... why sunbathe in the first place?

AndLeavesthatweregreenturnedto · 12/10/2015 15:27

yes get out there op get sun while you can and its still marginally warm

Gottagetmoving · 12/10/2015 15:42

The sun is the sun.whether it's July or October so yes,..you can get a tan even if you don't feel really warm. You can still burn too

Tornfacedcunt · 12/10/2015 15:49

I sat out today to get some sun. Granted it felt cool as it was windy and I did have jeans and a t-shirt on rather than shorts/vest but I still sat out for about 3hrs reading

ouryve · 12/10/2015 15:50

YABU to sunbathe at any time of year.

Gottagetmoving · 12/10/2015 15:53

YABU to sunbathe at any time of year

In that case,...There must be millions of unreasonable people out there...

Mcdotii · 12/10/2015 15:54

Did it! Was lovely. The sun is great for you in small doses, especially an all over tan

Yep, get some vitamin day before we wave goodby to the sun for the next 5 months.

KondosSecretJunkRoom · 12/10/2015 15:58

All over? Shock You're brave Grin

Sallystyle · 12/10/2015 16:01

Sun tan is still sun damaged skin so I never want to tan.

I love the sun though and I make the most of it whatever the time of year, but I do wear sunscreen on my face daily (I'm on Retin A).

Dowser · 12/10/2015 16:18

Vitamin d?

Tomfoolerywot · 12/10/2015 16:20

Vitamin D. Go for it. You should still be able to generate some in October in the south.

greenhill · 12/10/2015 16:21

All over tan? I sincerely hope that your garden isn't overlooked by NDN's.

Grazia1984 · 12/10/2015 16:23

Peope have different views. I was out in just my knickers earlier on. In my view Vit D with no sunscreen as long as you don't burn is one reason I am just about never ill. You cannot get it as well through pills or food. The myth that people should never go in the sun without sun cream has not done us a lot of good.

Shakey15000 · 12/10/2015 16:27

No chance here, it's bloody freezing!

pinkdelight · 12/10/2015 16:30

My NDNs (in their late 60s) have been topless sunbathing during the last couple of sunny weekends. Much to my young DSs' amusement.

Helenluvsrob · 12/10/2015 16:42

Been out in a T shirt for my Vitamin D dose. I've had proper going Vit D deficience this year so a little top up from our feeble northern sun is good!

SoftBlocks · 12/10/2015 16:46

Vitamin d and it's just nice to get a bit of sun and air on your skin before the long winter and layers of clothing!

megletthesecond · 12/10/2015 16:52

Yanbu. Get all the vitamin d you can before it leaves us.

I struggle in winter so am maximising the sunshine I can get while I can.

Glitterspy · 12/10/2015 16:59

Okay I hear you on vitamin D, and loving the autumn sun, but my husband (32) was diagnosed with skin cancer this summer and has had to have a large chunk of cheek chopped out. As cancers go, skin cancer is a very treatable/survivable form to have - but still, nothing's taking away the big scar he now has. It's lovely to sit out in the sun but please wear a proper 30+, 5* SPF.

I know I sound pedantic, and we used to love nothing more than beach holidays and roasting ourselves in the sun, I just wouldn't want anyone to go through what we just have if they could help it.

ilovesooty · 12/10/2015 17:06

Well I'm sure that you would have been able to decide without MN approval. You must have had a better idea of the weather than we would.

Grazia1984 · 12/10/2015 17:29

If you don't burn and are out just for 20 minutes then you don't need sunscreen and if you put it on you don't get the vit D, though so everyone needs to do their own research and make their own choices.

ender · 12/10/2015 17:44

It depends why you're sunbathing.
If you just enjoy lying in the sun then YANBU.
If you think you'll get a tan, or vitamin D from the sun's rays then YABU as the UV index is only 2 in October in the UK.

Sallystyle · 12/10/2015 17:56

My son is very vitamin D deficient and takes tablets. I encourage him to go out into the sun as much as he can.

I probably don't get enough Vit D but i'm paranoid about skin cancer and with Retin A it's a big no no anyway.

Mcdotii · 12/10/2015 19:19

Totally agree gratzia. Although I did do an hour on each side with the low UV.

Ender that is total junk, you can still get a lot of vit d at this time of year. I've got sunburnt in January before.
