I worked as an agency nurse at one place for three years. I thought I had made some friends .
I always supported and helped fellow workers and gave to collections etc etc.
I left on Friday and only 2 people showed up . No card no nothing just a fe people ringing to say they would miss me.
I am hurt by this treatment.
Am I over sensitive or just a no mark that no one gives a shit about ?

Where we work team managers sort out the card, collection, speech. The person leaving or who's birthday it is sorts out the meal and drinks. Agency staff don't receive anything, not even birthday cards. I would assume this has happened to you, please don't take it personally. I hadn't thought how hurtful it must be, it's just always been the way of things, maybe due to the reasons mentioned above? I will raise it tomorrow see if we can change this.

I do not think it is odd to form attachments with colleagues, I even go on holidays with some of mine. There are a few who I miss even over the weekend, and who I know miss me. You spend more time at work than at home, it's natural to become close.

YANBU, that is absolutely shitty of them. That happened to me a few year ago for a company I worked at for 2 years with overtime and I came away with zilch. Not even a 1 quid card.

At my current work place we now only have team collections at work because it was getting so out of hand with the amount of babies, weddings, leavers etc in the department, a lot of it was very hit and miss depending how busy it was or who remembers etc. It became quite costly too, a lot felt compelled to give a fiver.

Well, I reckon I did out myself! (see my post above)
Today was a special celebration for the group.
The original organiser turned up, unexpectedly, with choccies and flowers for myself and the other long term volunteer and someone else brought plants for us.
Thank you!

Im moving on ...stuff them
Thank you for your support just thought it was me being too sensitive.
I worked with same team for three years and often put them straight on my wages. The agency get a big fee but I was actually on less that them !
I will still work for another agency as well as my new job but will avoid working for THAT team in the future.

I had 2 babies and got married in my last job - and nothing was done, although every other person had a collection and cards!! Annoyed me at the time, I always contributed to the other collections too. Guessing my face didn't fit.
