Item I bought last week is now in the sale

Bought s Xmas present last week and today it's gone on sale with £40 off it. Aibu to take it back and rebuy it at cheaper price? My friend thinks I'm being a cheapskate but £40 is a big chunk of my budget

I try to shop at places that offer a generous returns policy for just this type of thing.

I've attempted this before. But only been offered the reduced sale price as a refund.

I bought something from Toast at full price and the day I received it, it went on sale with £50 off. I returned it and rebought at the cheaper price.

I do this all the time. I never take labels off or chuck receipts until I've worn or used something. Go for it.

The store I worked in returns sale items to the warehouse to stop this happening. The staff were happy as bonus was dependant on sales and people frequently doing this meant everyone lost bonus which boosted a low paid job.

Thanks all- am now £40 richer as phoned the shop concerned and asked if they would do a price adjustment on item which they quite happily did- gave me the difference in cash

I did it with a jumper.The assistant was fine about it and happy to do the refund. I told her why I was returning it.

Absolutely do it. Totally acceptable! This is why I never take the label off of anything until the last minute!

This is why you need to keep receipts so you can get full price back. I did it with a coat last year. It was half price in the sale but not in my size so I bought smaller size then took it back with receipt and got full price back
