Ok I'm ready to be flamed here but here I go... DP asked me this morning if his parents could take the kids cause they missed them all well and good I said no problem.

But when they came to collect them and everytime they come dp's dm goes on and on about how she's giving me a break and how I need a break sometimes and I just want to shout at her your not giving me a break I'm fine you asked to see the bloody kids!
Wibu I would I know I would next time to say something I've no idea what but it drives me mental!

What is wrong with her wanting/offering to give you a break?

My DCs are more than happy when I do that - and yes, I get the pleasure of seeing my DGCs too.

Oh, and ConstanceMarkYaBitch said it better.

It's not that there's anything wrong with it, just that if that is the main purpose of the visit, then I would rather save those offers for times when I really need it (work deadline, sleep deprivation, meeting) which come up once every so often, whereas if it's just a case of wanting to spend time with their grandchild then any time that suits them and as often as they want is fine with me!

I don't want any of the grandparents to feel as though their access to their grandson is restricted in any way as he loves spending time with them, but nor do I want them to feel as though we impose on them for childcare when we do ask (especially when other people owe me favours which I could easily call in) so plain talking makes things much easier.
