To be giving a 2 year old milk in the morning and before bed

My dd has not long turned 2 (July) and as part of her routine as soon as she's woken up at 7am she asks for her cup of milk. It's an open cup, we haven't used bottles since she turned one. She then has breakfast about half an hour later.
During our bedtime routine as soon as she steps out of the bath she's asking for her milk. This is given around 6:30pm and her teeth are always brushed after at 7pm when she goes to bed.
I have no problem with this but the reason I'm asking is that when we were staying with my dm she seemed to find it odd that I was giving her warm milk still in the morning and night and said she didn't think she needed it. Dm is not the interfering bossy type at all and very much goes by whatever I do with dd at home. Maybe that's why I'm suddenly questioning myself.

Incase it makes a difference she has on average between 100-150 am and pm.

My 3 year olds have warm milk every morning and every evening.

ds was still drinking milk from a bottle at night time at 2

a friend was horrified by this

he liked it found it comforting, I cleaned his teeth after and he grew out of it

he still drinks milk in the morning and at night plus a few glasses during the day

Never to old for a cup of warm milk and a cwtch with your mammy.
It's our evening routine- milk and cwtch while watching Horrible Histories.

My mum insisted I have a cup of warm milk in the morning and before I went to bed well into my teens - I think I was still having my morning one until I went to university! I never liked it, but still complied and as I don't eat much dairy, it was a good way of getting calcium into me. My mum was beyond smug when I had a bone scan last year and was told they were in excellent condition.

DD (6) has milk as her drink with breakfast (she eats her cereal dry) and evening meal. It's very much the recommended thing in the US; it's a common lunchtime drink option in school canteens as well.

TeamScoutRifle · 09/10/2015 06:10

Hmm I fancy a glass of warm milk now...

Ds is four and has milk every morning and every night. He doesn't drink it at other times. I don't see it as an issue in the slightest.

Anastasie · 09/10/2015 07:39

I can't think why she might object to it. You could try asking her?

Fwiw I still breastfeed my 2.9yo at various times during the day but mainly he has milk for his nap and for bedtime. Then the first thing he does in the morning.

Trying to get him interested in cows milk but he just plays with it and squirts it onto the carpet. sigh Smile

My four have milk in the morning, after school and at night-they also have home made yoghurt for snacks. They are growing teens and preteens and I think it's a healthy thing, much better than other drinks. I have hot milk at bedtime tonight! We only have milk, water tea and coffee as options for drinks at home.

We do go through about 6 pints a day thoughGrin

I am 30. I never started on tea or coffee. A glass of mill begins and ends my day.
My DH is 32. He drinks milk like it's going out of fashion.
I don't know what your dm is on about.

Sometimes I like a glass of milk.

I'm 35 [embarrassed]

Number3cometome · 09/10/2015 14:10

even more embarrassed about my smiley fail

EdgarAllenPoe · 09/10/2015 14:31

My husband is 34 and still has a glass of milk in the morning and before bed. He's never had a filling so it can't be doing him any harm!

NickyEds · 09/10/2015 15:14

Dp still has milk before bed at his Mum's, he's 36. He doesn't have it at home because it's not the same not out of his cow glass Confused
