Ordered some clothes a week ago today (and paid in full). Is about £250 of clothes for 5 items so for me not cheap (obvs wasn't necessarily going to keep them all).

Some of it I wanted for some work functions this week (but not a disaster).

I have hear nothing from the company since their email last Thurs so I emailed today to
ask what the progress is and received this reply

"Thank you for your email

I have looked into this matter for you and can see that unfortunately your order has been delayed due to a system issue for which I do sincerely apologise for. Unfortunately we are therefore unable to provide a delivery date at this present time, however please be assured that your order will be dispatched to you shortly.

I hope this reaches you promptly and please be assured that this is not our usual level of service and that all efforts are being taken to ensure the system issue is fixed to allow all of our orders to be sent out promptly. If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact our team and we will be more than happy to assist.

Kind regards"

AIBU to think this is a bit vague and shit - and if so do I reply politely saying so?

'Thank you for your email. Unfortunately I don't feel I have any more information from that response. At no time have I recieved notification of these delays and find that unacceptable.'

Personally I would cancel my order. End the email with the action you will take. Cancellation, ask for an exact date etc

No definatly reply.
I work in a complaints department and can honestly say the more honest and upfront a customer is a about what's rilled them and what an ideal outcome would be (no matter how mental like 12mil compensation) allows me to address the issue more easily and with a better outcome.
Tell them you need a specific delivery timescale or ti guarantee a delivery date by x date and if not then cancell/expecting (reasonable) compensation for the distress and inconvenience of 1- not having your goods and 2- not having the money to buy replacement goods.

Ooh I hadn't thought about not being notified of the delay.

Is it a big company or an independent?

Weathergames · 07/10/2015 18:45

It's a large high street company.

Get yourself onto Twitter, the big companies really hate that!
