To use a potty (kitchen bowl)

nadadise · 02/10/2015 06:35

Our toilet has broken, can't afford to fix it.

Is it really awful to use a kitchen washing up bowl?

Blush

I hate doing it but I can't think of any alternatives. Any ideas?

And I'm not saying nobody ever in the history of parenthood has ever flushed solid waste down the toilet. I'm backing up the OP based on the fact that a hell of a lot of people all around the country are putting poo in their bins on a regular basis, including the very people who are telling her that for some reason she shouldn't. In between telling her she's making it up.

TattyDevine · 03/10/2015 17:24

Our one doesn't Jason. I'm on the board.

you know these people and what they do?

Jasonandyawegunorts · 03/10/2015 17:24

That's lucky.

It should do.

TattyDevine · 03/10/2015 17:26

Jason, you know full well that hundreds of thousands of households all around the country and in fact the world dispose of poo in the bin. None of your bored nitpicking will change that fact. Its a fact. Take a walk around bin day in the summer. But you don't have to, because you know, really.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 03/10/2015 17:28

you know, really.

No i don't, once again you are supposed to flush it unless there is a bin service that take it.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 03/10/2015 17:29

I've stated facts. You have stated things you happen to "Know".

Mintyy · 03/10/2015 17:34

Tatty - you said to me that you took it I didn't use disposable nappies for my two. Well, I did and I got rid of the solid stuff as often as I possibly could down the loo. At home, out and about, wherever, unless it was just impssible. I have participated on lots of threads on this subject on here and I am absolutely NOT the only disposable-using parent who does the same.

The op has a choice here, she really does. She really does not need to wrap up her own poo in a couple of sheets of kitchen roll (which, I would argue, is more disgusting than wrapping it up in a thick nappy because that at least is unlikely to leak its contents into the bin) and throw it out with her household waste.

It's not nice when your toilet is blocked but it is surely the absolutely last resort to do what op proposes?

littleducks · 03/10/2015 17:42

Our nursery put nappies in the refuse wheelie bin. As do every nursery and preschool I have ever sent my kids to.

wowfudge · 03/10/2015 17:47

However squeamish you are and however much you think you have no DIY skills I just can't imagine resorting to this rather than trying to unblock the loo myself. But I understand not everyone thinks and does the same. I'm very practical when it comes to things like this. Plenty of people aren't.

Anyway, fingers crossed those rods arrive tomorrow. I had no idea couriers delivered on Sunday - worth knowing.

Jasonandyawegunorts · 03/10/2015 17:51

It should be a seprate bin for such waste.

Human hygiene or sanpro waste can sometimes be produced in large quantities in places such as schools, nurseries and motorway service areas. In quantity they can be offensive and cause handling problems. In these cases, where the premises generate more than one standard bag or container of human hygiene waste over the usual collection interval, it is considered appropriate to package it separately from other waste streams.

I've worked at quite a few nurseries and we also put the nappies in the normal outside bins. Before MN, it never crossed my mind to scrape poo. I have 3 children and worked in a handful of nurseries.

littleducks · 03/10/2015 18:37

Well what does "one standard bag or container" actually mean?

If the standard container is the wheelie bin then they are fine as the bins contain nappies and normal refuse (so aren't full of nappies alone).

Jasonandyawegunorts · 03/10/2015 18:42

Very good point.

nadadise · 03/10/2015 19:12

I will politely point out that:

a) I have tried to unblock the loo myself prior to this thread.
b) I tried to unblock the loo using the ideas on this thread which unfortunately haven't yet been successful, and
c) I have ordered a plunger which will arrive tomorrow and will hopefully work.

Thank you.

I have successfully unblocked our loo several times by putting the toilet brush into a plastic bag (if there is not too much water the plastic bag off a loaf works well) and using it and the additional air in it as a plunger - you need to do it slowly and repeatedly but it does work (at least for us). Hope you get it unblocked soon.

nadadise · 03/10/2015 19:32

I will screenshot the order when I get in and PM it to you if you like Hmm

And according to Amazon it will arrive tomorrow despite it being on a sunday. But you'll be able to see that from the screenshot.

:)

Amazon do deliver on sundays and have done for at least a few months.

nadadise · 03/10/2015 19:36

If I can remove my personal details I'll post it here as I really am sick of this.

I ordered it last night. If I knew for a fact I had a receipt for the caustic soda I would take a photo of that and put it here but I threw the rubbish out this morning.

Plus I really shouldn't have to Confused

OP posts:
Jasonandyawegunorts · 03/10/2015 20:06

You don't have to.

nadadise · 03/10/2015 20:12

Thanks Jason but I feel as if I do to be honest. I feel like I've been sniped at and got at and goaded and annoyed with this constant 'we don't really believe you, you know' that some posters have displayed throughout.

It's really irritating.

The thing is, some people are never going to be happy, you'll get people claiming you photshopped the invoice and so on.
