to think this doesn't count as DH's turn (light hearted)

DH and I are having a debate (we haven't turned the central heating on yet so are having to find other things to pointlessly bicker about)

We both work full time so take it in turns to cook each night.

Last week I made a couple of shepherds pies. Ate one and put the other one in the freezer.

Last night was DH's turn to cook so we had the shepherds pie. Actually, he only did half a job anyway, he put it in the oven then cleared off round next door as he had to have a 'quick word' with our neighbour. I had to dish it up.

He thinks this constitutes his turn. I think it's a pisstake as I made it in the first place so it's still his turn.

It's all pretty irrelevant as I put a casserole in the slow cooker this morning, but I can bank the brownie points Grin

No-one in my house ever has any meal suggestions but still declare it wasn't what they fancied when I've dished it up....

Are you me myotherusernameisbetter?

.... and then when I make a list the supermarket doesn't want to sell me what is on the list.

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 16:23

yup, I hear ya howabout that's why I get annoyed, tired and frustrated and sometimes throw the towel in. So then we have chips and beans and it is declared the best meal they've had all week!

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 16:25

or DH says at 4.30 on a Sunday night when I give up and go to the shops "oh a roast chicken would be nice" yeah 'cos I want to wait until 8pm for my dinner...and we had roast chicken 2 days ago.... Fud! :o

howabout · 01/10/2015 16:30

Cheese omelette and chips is my give up option. They all love it, but trying to teach DD1 how to make it for me is not going so well. Apparently I am the BEST at something. Smile

myotherusernameisbetter · 01/10/2015 16:33

Hmm despite loving both cheese and eggs, omelette night is no-ones favourite in my house - I love them but it's still not my favourite as I like to use a small pan and can only make one at a time - 4 omelettes later my chips are usually a bit crispy :(

AlisonWunderland · 01/10/2015 16:37

I do batch cooking too.

If I take a casserole - originally cooked by me -out of freezer, does that count as my turn?
I just need to get the Terms and Conditions sorted!

Tinklewinkle · 01/10/2015 17:12

Well, according to the terms and conditions I've been drawing up this afternoon, if you were the original maker of the said casserole then yes indeed it does count as your turn.

Grin

I also get the 'don't mind' whenever I ask what anyone fancies for dinner, then 'don't really fancy shepherds pie again'

Fuckers

Our throw the towel in dinner is fish fingers, potato waffles and baked beans. My favourite!

My "can't be arsed" meal is jacket potato, with tuna, sweetcorn and mayo (plus a wee bit of onion salt and loads of black pepper)
Still counts as cooking!

pasta and pesto with parmesan on top and rocket side salad (it grows like a week in the summer) if I can be bothered. Takes 10 minutes

2rebecca · 01/10/2015 22:06

weed not week

kiggenpaws · 01/10/2015 23:40

Firstly- he's so not had his turn.
Secondly- can I admit that I can't stand omelettes. There will never be an 'omelette night' in my house. I think it's the odd wibbly texture....

SoleBizzzz · 01/10/2015 23:41

Yabu

Poor guy!

howabout · 02/10/2015 09:28

Well it's either that or lentil pie kiggen and I would bet you anything my DD3 hates it far more than anyone could hate an omelette. How do you feel about sausages and fish fingers?

kiggenpaws · 02/10/2015 20:57

I don't like lentils either howabout..... but sausages and fish fingers? I'd be very happy with Smile!

Lambzig · 02/10/2015 21:24

Turns, how did you manage that? DH accidentally had to cook supper two days in a row this week (ingredients available, my schedule related) - he normally cooks about once a month. The huffing and saucepan slamming and appearing from the kitchen bemoaning his fate was so bad I did actually laugh in his face (while eating the most delicious beef in black bean sauce).

Admittedly he has recently decorated the entire house following our building work.
