How would you have worded this "don't park over my driveway" note?

soo.....last night someone parked over my drive (dropped curb, obviously driveway, with an actual car in it), for a good few hours - plenty of other parking available.

Eventually after a few hours, i popped a note on the car

Hi

I realise you may not know this road, but unfortunately you have blocked my driveway all evening and i have been unable to get my own car out.

Please do check next time you park that you are not over a driveway or dropped curb

thanks

Would you have been upset with me if you got this note? could i have worded it better? (they didn't come back to me, and i didnt see them go)

I once parked in a residents' car park by mistake (not blocking anyone in I hasten to add) - it was outside an old people's home so of course not many of them had cars and was pretty much empty. when I came back, it was still empty save for my car which had a note "be careful where you park or you don't know what will happen to you" written in elderly, spidery handwriting Shock!

Anyway, I think you were very polite.

You're far more restrained than me, I would have gone with wankerchief's response!

I feel your pain op ... having the same problems with new neighbours that moved into a rented house next door to me two months ago ...dh & i have asked them several times to stop but they carry on doing it regardless...very annoying .

No shit.
I actually have to park on the street ACROSS my driveway as its near a town centre so all the twats that work there park on my street then piss off for 8 hours to go to work.
Lost count of the times I have not been able to leave because some arse has blocked me in (even with a dropped kerb).

Oh God! A few weeks ago we went to an afternoon garden party in the road we used to live in. As we drove into the road one of the neighbours (let's call him Steve) was just coming out of his house to go to the party and told us to park on his drive as there were lots of cars in the road. We parked on his drive and off we all went to the party.

About 6 hours later we left the party and wandered up the road to get the car. Steve was still at the party. We got in the car and DH was just about to reverse out when the front door opened and another neighbour (Larry) came out. I said to DH "what's Larry doing coming out of Steve's house?" We were mystified. Larry came storming down the drive ranting about why had we parked on the drive, what did we think we were doing parking there for hours? I told him Steve had told us to park there and didn't know why Larry was so upset, and why was he in Steve's house anyway?

He just kept asking what the hell did we think we were doing, and we'd blocked him in all afternoon. While he was shouting I was looking around thinking I was going crazy. What was this madman going on about? As I looked around the driveway it slowly dawned on me that this wasn't Steve's drive, and was in fact Larry's. Now I thought I was going mad. I looked over at DH, who had been very quiet, and said I don't understand what's happened, I know we parked on Steve's drive and hadn't moved the car since.

DH looked a bit sheepish. "We'll I did nip out to get some cigarettes earlier."

Yes, he'd gone to the shop in the car, came back and parked on the wrong drive. We had blocked Larry in for four hours. We were mortified.
