to get my nose pierced

at 35?

I really want a fine silver ring that sits almost flush to my nose. I bought a fake one from Etsy and have been wearing it for over a week and really love how it looks.

My mother will hate it.

For reference I work in a creative industry and have unnaturally coloured hair.

I have the number for the best reviewed piercing place in my city and am thinking about getting it done tomorrow or Saturday. Should I??

Do it! Your eye will water and your nose may bleed (I was out the door of the studio when it happened, had to leg it back for a handful of tissues). I wear a screw stud, really comfy, especially when I got one that screwed the right way (!), didn't realise you can buy left and right ones.
I've never worn a ring but that sounds lovely. Amazon have lots, I get little flower shaped studs. The stones never last long but they're only a couple of quid each.

Bloody I wasn't getting at you. One of my colleagues pierced their lip themselves a couple of years ago and got an awful infection so I am a bit weird about it.

Heres mines (please excuse me looking rough as hell!!)

Got mine done at 15, now 34 and it's still there (obviously not the same stud)

I feel naked without it. It's only got a tiny diamond in it, but something about it just feels like 'me'.

PS I have a very good job too - never had issues.

Itsbloodyraining · 24/09/2015 15:22

I know you weren't getting at me!Smile. I just can't believe I did it for no reason. I'm a frumpy mum who now wants a new stud!!!! Grin

FuckYouBitchImWellClassy · 24/09/2015 15:28

Bet the longing is on you Smile

PurpleHairAndPearls · 24/09/2015 15:40

Do it op! And a report and pics please Smile I shall now update my spreadsheet to include MNers who I never knew had piercings Grin

Years ago, DH (then just BF) had his eyebrow pierced and fainted it's a good job I was already in love with him...

I smiled at the 1990s comment, I think it's only 1990s-ish if you co-ordinate it with a tie dye T shirt, patchouli oil, a big spliff and possibly some dungarees...or was that just me Grin

I forgot to mention I also have 3 lip piercings. and my hands are tattooed. I am the archetypal Embarrassing Mother and my daughter loves it!

kali110 · 24/09/2015 15:49

Do it.
I've had mine in permanently since i were in my early twenties.
No job has a problem with it.
I have a labret in mine now so i can simply change the stud when i get bored.

kali110 · 24/09/2015 15:55

Ex i have 4 lip ( was 5) nose, 12 ear piercings, tongue, belly, and did have eyebrow and anti brow piercing.
I had two dermal implants in my hands too till few months ago.
I've never struggled with a job.
I'll admit my nose piercing was the worst Blush when i had it done with the needle,
I'd had it done with the gun previously but i found the needle so painful!!
I've had to repierce my nose lip and tongue when i've left them
Out for a while.
It's always the nose that kills!!Grin
Anne i thought i was going to cry having my nose pierced.
Tattooist was laughing, the same one who has done several of my tattoos.

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 24/09/2015 16:56

Do it! I don't have mine done as I don't have the type of nose that would suit it but I have a lot of ear cartilage piercings and if they use numbing spray then you won't feel more than an odd feeling.

Just keep it clean with saline/salt water and back to the piercer to get the stud replaced

DoctorWoo · 24/09/2015 17:01

That young? Then heck yes! I've been thinking about finally getting mine done. Im 46 Smile

Notgivingin789 · 24/09/2015 17:07

Yeah, I don't see the harm in getting one. Grin. I personally wouldn't do it for myself as I don't think a nose piercing will suit me and I get keloid scars very easily.

But I don't see a problem with it at your age.

Notgivingin789 · 24/09/2015 17:09

kali I'm really interested in getting my septum pierced... but I'm scarred and I scar very easily. I have many cartilages piercing and they have scarred my ear. How was the dermal implants?! Did they hurt?!

Notgivingin789 · 24/09/2015 17:10

Oh yes! I have been advised many times by piercing professionals that you should ALWAYS get pierced with a needle.

PressTheAButton · 24/09/2015 17:20

I'm a bit meh about them. Mostly they just make my own nose itch. I don't think they look bad but I don't think they look good either.

I know a lot of people with them, mostly arty types Wink or teens. I suppose it's a useful way to let others know you are creative.

Btw I currently have blue hair. It's my way of letting others know I was bored and thought it would be fun to have blue hair for a few weeks. Wink
