To be annoyed at people who park inconsiderately on pavements?

This is something that's been getting me annoyed recently. I've no idea if they are parking legally or not, but I've been taking my relatives twins out about 3 times a week recently, to give their mum a break. Side by side twin buggy. We walk about an hour in total, mostly through a park.... but leading to the park I have to walk on the road at least 5 times each time we are out! The buggy isn't even that wide tbh. It annoys me so much ... but not really about me... but because I have no idea how someone in a wheelchair copes. it's really not fair! So are people actually allowed to park on the pavement? even when it's blatantly obvious that a wheelchair / pushchair can't go through!

Just to point out that a pram/pushchair blocked by a car can be carefully bumped into the road (where safe, obviously) and circumnavigated.

A mobility scooter can't mount a kerb (you can get "kerb kickers" but they're worse than useless) so unless there is a possibility of reversing, and finding an (unblocked) dropped kerb this side and the other, it's journeys end. (And doubtless DWP sanctions if you miss your JobCentre appointment).

Personally, quite aside from the morals of two wrongs not making a right, I would advise people to be careful scratching cars. The recent dashcam footage which caught a car vandal reminds us we never know who might be watching.

Of course, a wheelchair user could always use their invisibility to their advantage, and bend down out of dashcam sight, and maybe trap a small stone under a couple of tyre caps. Two flat tyres a couple of weeks later may not be connected with cuntish parking, but is a PITA and can amuse some minds.

Don't even start me on this.....Angry. Some fuckers park on the pavements on my road when they don't even need to. Bin lorries could get by even if they parked on the road. I reckon they are just so scared of getting their wing mirror knocked off that they do it anyway. Either that or it's just to piss me off.

I'm not sure it's illegal as my Police Inspector neighbour and his wife both park their cars on the pavement Hmm but it is bloody inconvenient. I also hate the neighbours who park their cars on their drives, front end in, but the car is too long - or they've parked 2 cars one behind the other when there is only room for one - so the back end of the car is across the pavement.

I have a DD in a wheelchair and it is a pain in the arse - having to get off kerbs where they are not dropped or getting of at the dropped kerb and having to walk in the road for longer than necessary.

As someone mentioned wheely bins - they are also a pain. There is a stretch of pavement between my house and the village shop which is wide enough for a wheelchair - except on bin day, when the bins are ut bocking the pavement all day.

And it isn't always done because the road is too narrow. Around here you can park a car fully on the road and there is still room for a vehicle to get through - as long as no one parks opposite. In fact, I would quite like it if they parked on the road as it slows the traffic down (not talking main roads here - just quiet residential streets)I assume they do it because they think there is less chance that their precious vehicle will get scratched by another car don't suppose they thought about it getting scratched by a wheelchair Grin

On the few occasions when I may have scratched a car I wouldn't give a shit if it had been on camera, it wouldn't have made me look bad!

Round here there is a parking enforcement smart car that can be sent to respond to reports of illegally or inconsiderately parked cars. I have the number programmed into my phone, so can report the arseholes who park all over the pavement (often vans, but not always) while I'm out.
I try to be a bit more laid-back about this now I don't have to push a pushchair around, but to be honest it's still bloody annoying.

Yes, important to remember, but he got something out of his pocket to deliberately scratch the car. It wasn't parked inconsiderately.
If I am walking along a pavement and scratch a car as I force my way past it with a pushchair, or whack it with by cane, then I know who's going to come off looking worse!

Hate it. On one street on the way to my DM and dads house I occasional have to walk the length of the road on the road as there so many cars parked on both sides. Most houses have drives but no one seems to use them and most seen to park right up against the hedges.

Then there is my street. I just don't get why anyone parks on the pavement as the road is so wide you can park a van on either side and still have room for two buses to pass with no problem. The pavement is also wide enough that you could park your van on it completly and still have room for a buggy and a wheelchair to pass, but why would you when the road is so wide?
