I didn't say 'I Love You'. Now cringing.

Recently i've been probably over thinking, saying "I love you". It is so over-used it seems to be losing it's meaning..
I love poptarts, cheese, camping, drawing and sleep.
I was thinking before, and got a bit emotional. Then said to DH "You are so loved" then ran and cringed
I am just wondering if someone else says, or has said, 'I love you' in a different way?
or am I just a weirdo

I find it hard to say too! DH is saying it constantly and I usually reply with a feeble "you too" Blush I do feel it though.

travellinglighter · 20/09/2015 19:46

I used to say “Are you my love?” to my ex wife. Apparently I wasn’t

I say it too much. I feel it, though, and I like telling him.

Whereyourtreasureis · 20/09/2015 20:21

I never say my DH's name to him either Confused

I'm odd.

"Are you my love"??? Really????

Tyrannosaurus · 20/09/2015 20:24

I really don't think saying it is that important. It is showing it in the way you treat the people you love that counts.

winchester1 · 20/09/2015 20:25

I never say my oh name.sometime I have to say ot o r and over on my head to remind myself what he is called Confused

Neither of us says I love you either. Its o like you handy. very handy
Don't know why we do that.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/09/2015 20:25

Me too MrsTed Ive actually diarised an 'I love you' to my Dh, so once, just once, he gets the novelty of me saying it to him rather than the very lame 'love you too'

Sighing · 20/09/2015 20:28

'Ello my loverrr' (in an over exaggerated west country accent).
But I do a very gushy thing (generally on Wednesdays where I express heady sentiments.

HippyDippyRidingPretty · 20/09/2015 20:29

It's very rare I say it, to anything. I believe that when it is said, it then has more to it iyswim.

Also I'm not a touchy feely person so the usual 's'up douchebag' does quite well. Grin

Bulbasaur · 20/09/2015 20:34

We say it unashamedly whenever the mood strikes us. We don't get gushy about it though, a quick "I love you" followed by a kiss on the cheek or shoulder rub. It's just good to say or remind.

I do love poptarts. I also love my daughter. I also love my husband.

Love isn't always just romantic hallmark love. It depends on the context of how you say it.

DarkRosaleen · 20/09/2015 20:35

I've said it. It was in the early nineties though.
I don't love him at all now. Sad

Passmethecrisps · 20/09/2015 20:38

Is "I love you" not a touch over rated? I think it might be. That might be to suit my own needs but so be it.

We never did "I love you" or even physical affection but I don't doubt that I was loved - albeit awkwardly.

My dd announced today "I love you" in a very sincere way to my DH and then to me. I can honesty say that this is the first time it has meant anything and that saying it back meant the world

Passmethecrisps · 20/09/2015 20:39

^when I say 'we' I mean my parent and my siblings.

BolshierAyraStark · 20/09/2015 20:44

I love DH, I rarely tell him though-he just knows it. I have a couple of friends who say it all the fucking time to DH's, so overused & makes me feel it's meaningless.

RomiiRoo · 20/09/2015 20:54

My husband used to ask me if I still loved him 5 or 6 times a day - quickest way to get someone to RUN in the opposite direction.

We separated; but are talking again. Now he says 'I love you' maybe once or twice a week. I can't really say it at all - it is more about actions for me.

Whereyourtreasureis · 20/09/2015 20:56

That's what I mean, its overused.

I want a new way to say it without cringing into the furniture Smile

Spilose · 20/09/2015 21:00

We say it a minimum of 5 times a day Blush we probably do throw it around too much but I enjoy it. We are quite gushy at times though Confused

Starkswillriseagain · 20/09/2015 22:20

I said, 'I love...-you the way you smell.' was the only thing that came to mind!

Starkswillriseagain · 20/09/2015 22:21

I say it a lot now, so does DH but the true love is putting up with each others flaws. My over-active bowel and OHs over actives upper gastric tract.

FarFromAnyRoad · 20/09/2015 22:25

I say it when I'm pissed.

I don't drink.

Grin
Wearyheadedlady · 20/09/2015 22:29

I remember when my son was 2 he said " I love you too mummy" and that was the best I love you I've ever had or will.

Titsywoo · 20/09/2015 23:13

I never say it to anyone. I am very affectionate and show love in the way I act but saying it feels weird and false to say it. Can't help it - was the way I was raised I guess.
