...to think a washing machine that isn't even 3 years old shouldn't be leaving dirty marks on clothes

I'm getting really frustrated with my Hoover machine its a 10kg Eco something or other.

I don't overload it, ive cleaned it, drums, seals, drawers and boil washed and still its leaving marks on random clothes. Today it's my DD white baby vest which I wash all her clothes seperately to ours. the drum isn't making any horrible noises or anything like that so don't think its that either though could be wrong! I'm getting so frustrated!

Yes, mine does this too.

Have you done the whole white vinegar/Bicarb of soda thing too?
That tends to work for my machine.

I haven't tried that yet, I usually use Dr Beckmann cleaner in a bottle, last stuff I used was the dettol stuff and even used bleach! These seems a fairly new thing, I'm bloomin sure I'm replacing a not even 3 year old machine!

Is it your detergent? We had a duff batch of powder a while back and all the laundry started coming out still smelly. Bought a different box and no more trouble.

What kind of marks? Black?

I don't think Dr B is enough, nor bleach. I use a combo or weird shaped brushes, pipe cleaners, sponges etc and do a clean every couple of months. Also clear out the filter regularly. Do you live in a hard water region? I do, the combo of that plus fabric softnee turning inro disgusting gloop means a lot of washing machine maintenance, possibly the most tedious household chore in the world.

If you haven't yet pulled out the drawer, do it and take a look at both the drawer and the top of the compartment where the water showers in, it's probably covered in shit. Also clean the rubber seal of the drum.

Hotpatootietimewarp · 20/09/2015 13:55

The last big clean I did was a couple weeks ago and used an old tooth brush to scrub all the seals and inside the drawer properly. Haven't checked the pump at the front and live in a soft water area.

The marks are like little muddy brown marks almost.

Do you use powder or liquids? I got marks when I used liquids so switched to powder instead

ToGoBoldly · 20/09/2015 13:57

Calgon?

I'd check the pump/filter.

I hate cleaning the washing machine Grin so YANBU

dementedpixie · 20/09/2015 13:57

Did you take the drawer out and clean the bit that it fits into ? The roof bit can get clogged up and dirty

Hotpatootietimewarp · 20/09/2015 14:03

Yes I cleaned the inside of the drawer with the toothbrush also. Maybe I will switch to powder and see if that solves it as I mostly use liquid or capsules maybe they don't agree with the machine but it seems to be a recent problem

Our washing machine was making weird noises, and it was a sock stuck in the pump I fucking knew I wasn't eating my socks in my sleep Maybe the dirty water isn't draining properly and leaving marks?

dementedpixie · 20/09/2015 14:13

Liquids and capsules don't have bleaches in them whereas powders do so they keep the drum cleaner

Tfoot75 · 20/09/2015 14:15

We have a Hoover too and it's not very good. Had to stop using non-bio as it wasn't washing marks or smells out. Biological washing powder solved the problem.

EarSlaps · 20/09/2015 16:36

My Hoover machine lasted 15 months. When I replaced it with a Siemens I realised how much cleaner the new machine got my clothes.
