Hollyoaks. The acting is painfully bad.

I know I'm probably the only person on mumsnet who watches Hollyoaks ( I watch whilst waiting for C4 news ) but honestly, with all the talent that must be out there why are the actors so bad?
The guy that plays Harry is the most wooden actor I've ever seen in my life, it's like watching Acorn Antiques.
I know I don't have to watch it but it's just annoying because good story lines are wasted on bad actors.

You'd think she'd get a fringe cut in to tone down that forehead a bit. Guess it's part of the character though, making her look even more hard-faced.

DH has been 'background artiste' (that's extra to us non-luvvies) on Hollyoaks a couple of times. The casting criteria for the main roles seems to be pretty, can cry on queue and too thick naive to be able to understand a contract.

I love Hollyoaks, I record the omnibus on a Saturday/Sunday night/morning (not sure what time it is) and watch it on a Sunday morning while cleaning.

The acting is crap, the storylines are even worse but I can't stop watching.

I don't think Harry's too bad actually in Hollyoaks terms. I think he was probably cast for his very nice chest....not that I've noticed. I did feel like a perv but apparently he's 23 in real life, phew. Although the guy who plays Freddie is 24, I can't believe he's only a year older than him! He looks a lot older.

I love Freddie - the mad swivel eyes, the terrible acting, the awful tattoos, the thunderbird eyebrows....can't stand that miserable cow Lindsey but Freddie has a very unique charm I think. I admitted on here once to fancying him but found I wasn't completely alone. His acting is so bad that it's fun to watch. I'd miss old starey eyes if he ever left.

I think the worst has to be Nico. The constant scowling is bad enough, as well as her horrendously wooden acting but that voice - it's like nails down a chalkboard! I do think she's one of the worst actors they've had in a while, she makes Harry look like Oscar material in comparison.

They've had good actors in it like Warren Brown but they tend to sniff them out quickly and kill them off.

Do you remember the fire they had? Obviously due for another. They use 'accidents' to get rid of the bad actors. I said at the time they didn't get rid of enough of them !!!!!

I went to uni and did drama with one of he current actresses. She's very talented but is also gorgeous and I'm fairly sure it was the latter that got her the role

Don't watch it myself apart from occasionally tuning in to catch said actress to see if she's any good but my mum's addicted to the point that I can't call for a chat between 6.30 and 7.00 without getting a very frosty reception...

I do think it's about time Silas made a reappearance. It's a soap, he's an escaped serial murderer, he's got to come back at some point. It's soap law!

It was very bizarre to see Will in Coronation St. I never liked him in HO and he seems just as creepy and 'up to something' in Corrie as he was in HO.
