OK, so today I was having a meeting with the brand new big boss (to make it worse, I was being told off a bit) and when sitting in the big boss offices I LEAKED on someone else's chair........ I had a bad feeling when I got up and swiftly nipped it under the desk - I'm not sure if he saw... but tomorrow when they go back in they will see!! To make it worse, my card doesn't let me in that room, so I don't know how to fix it (to be honest I doubt it will come out anyway) What should I do? Leave it and hope nobody realises it was me? Try and get it swapped? I have no idea.... but I am completely humiliated :((( PLEASE any tips would be appreciated!!!

Maybe because it happens a lot?

I've leaked twice at work; once onto a new colleagues car seat and once onto a patient's sofa, then my bare feet (that I sat on to contain mess).

MissDuke · 17/09/2015 07:32

Boring and unimaginative OP Confused op couldn't you have embillished your op slightly to make it more exciting?

I really feel for you, it is such a horrible thing to happen but as others have said, I doubt it will look so bad now.

BigRedBall · 17/09/2015 07:36

Yep, almost identical copy. Boring and unimaginative OP....

What so people are supposed to make up mortifying stories?! This happens to a lot of people...same as parking threads and noisey neighbours. What a strange thing to write.

greenfolder · 17/09/2015 07:49

This happens frequently in hi so of course there are going to be duplicate threads. Op I understand your mortification. As the owner for many years of an increasingly dodgy uterus I was the master of casually throwing a scarf down and sitting on that.
However as I got older I really started to question what the hell all these chairs are in offices that mark so easily. What the hell is wrong with black and brown?

I would do nothing. Nobody checks a chair everyday, nobody is going to accuse directly. Do nothing and say nothing

GloGirl · 17/09/2015 07:57

That thread is a year old! I remember it so well as if it was just a month ago

MercedesDR · 17/09/2015 08:01

I've flooded on a bus and. NE coach!

Toooldtobearsed · 17/09/2015 08:06

ffs report? It is not uncommon you know.

It has happened to me TWICE. I used to have very heavy flows and twice in business meetings I stood up and had 'marked' the chair. I did not post on here because, as it happened it was all women at the meeting and I just said 'oh shit - how do I get this out'?

Had I been in OPs position, I may well have posted - I too would have been mortified.

I can't believe that you could consider it to be SO rare that any similar posts must be trolls please don't let it be a troll, I would look stupid

LoseLooseLucy · 17/09/2015 08:17

Yes, Brenda, you 'ahem' report Hmm

Remarkably similar. How bizarre that a woman may have leaked at work, never happens in RL, eh?

LaContessaDiPlump · 17/09/2015 08:53

I remember that thread! Clearly it's something that was only allowed to happen once, hence all the stick this op is getting Confused

Cheer up op, could be worse could have been a shart

greenfolder · 17/09/2015 09:01

Re surely it would have been on you clothes? That's what black trousers are for. At my worst I had identical black trousers at the bottom of my handbag. Grim times. Sorted out by having a hysterectomy including a fibroid the size of a watermelon.

Battleshiphips2 · 17/09/2015 09:01

so if a woman posted on here about bleeding during pregnancy she must be making it up of course because there has already been a thread about that Hmm OP it happened to my niece during a conference, she was mortified but laughs about it now that's assuming it did happen and she didn't make it up

NoisyOyster · 17/09/2015 09:02

Good luck op, ignore the troll hunters,

I'd go with either act innocent and deny deny deny should someone bring it up, or if there's a chance you can sneak into the room, salted cold water and dab furtively

Hey, I've seen two threads on here just today about children. The second one must be a troll. And a boring one at that. I mean, how likely is it that two women on mumsnet would have kids eh? Or periods? Hmm

If you think it's a troll, report.

LittleMissIntrovert · 17/09/2015 09:30

If no one was allowed to post the same thing twice, there wouldn't be any threads!

OP just carry on as normal, they would probably be too embarrassed to mention it anyway!

Poledra · 17/09/2015 09:31

Esmerelda, can you report the mark on the office chair to your cleaning staff? We have a number at our office to call to let the cleaners know about any mishaps (usually framed as 'coffee spills') but you can just say you noticed a mark on it and can it be cleaned please?

It's happened to us all - I had an unexpected conversation with 6-yo DD about periods when I flooded and had to clean the seat in the car (fortunately wipe-clean leather!).

esmeralda1234 · 17/09/2015 09:40

thanks all for your advise!

unfortunately i'm not making it up (i wish i was)
and yes I was wearing black trousers so thankfully wasnt walking round with a red arse all day! Grin

sorry for the duplicate post - I am a new member so haven't had time to read each of the threads individually yet Wink

OP posts:
sooperdooper · 17/09/2015 09:41

Oh do fuck off about it being a duplicate thread - like this can only have happened once in the world??

Happened to me in work and I had to borrow a coat from a lovely friend to hide the stain all over my trousers and drive home to change - luckily my chair was dark so I cleaned it but it didn't show - want to 'report' me too?? Confused

OP - if it's a meeting room chair loads of people will have sat there so don't worry that they'll know it was you

OP don't stress about it. It happens often to lots of people.

If it helps a couple of weeks ago I was at a friends and realised I had leaked on her cream fabric dining chair. Then noticed a bloody mark on her cream fabric sofa and then on the beige carpet on her stairs where I had sat down to undo DS's shoes when we came in. Pretty much anywhere I had sat that afternoon. I was absolutely mortified but my friend was understanding and all the marks came out.

Please don't worry. I doubt anyone would say anything.

TiffanyAtBreakfast · 17/09/2015 09:56

OP is there anyone you're friendly with in HR or someone that has full access to the room? If so maybe you could confide in them and get them to let you into the room so you can subtley remove the chair...

Or if you don't feel brave enough for that just tell them you think you dropped a pen or money in there and need to be let in.

If this happens to you regularly why would you not pad up everyday?

I have bladder problems, rarely, once every few months, I can have a small leak before getting to the loo. I "pad up" everyday to avoid the potential embarrassment of smelling of piss or a visual damp patch.
