Dogs licking feet? Yes or No?

I adore DDog having a sniff, snuffle and lick but was told I was "gross" for allowing such a thing to happen.

I don't think IABU but do you think IABU?

My dog has no balls (castrated), but still loves a good wank by licking his willy.

I'm an NHS Podiatrist and it takes a lot to turn my guts.
I've had to physically clean excrement from the feet of incontinent patients and people who have mascerated yellow feet from urine.
I've seen maggots.
I've seen ulcers I could put my fist in.

But d'you what made me vomit on my own shoes.

Yep - licking feet - nice. I don't like her licking my hands, but feet is fine. She's a very licky dog.

ahh theres nothing like a big slobbery doggie kiss. my dog sleeps at the bottom of my bed but blatantly refuses to lick my feet. quite happy to try and stick his tongue in my nose though

If people can teach their dogs to fetch/guard/only shit outside/shake hands etc why oh why can't they teach them not to lick every fucker who visit's feet?

My dog will lick any human body part he can reach, but I'm funny about having my feet touched (my sister used to wake me up by grabbing my big toe ), but no, YANBU.

DP's mum's dog will take socks off to lick your feet if you let her...

I once asked DH if he would like to lick my feet instead of the dog.

He declined my offer. I can't imagine why!

OP you are daft to have posted in AIBU...have you not seen enough of MN to know that many posters are utterly hysterical about animals?

Frankly there are probably more germs on keyboards than on your dog's tongue. So no yanbu, but then why would you be? If you like your dog to lick you then fine, no one else's business.

I can think of quite a few. Like licking a toilet brush, or well, many many things.

A dog licking your feet is not vile. I touch more germs through the day than my dogs give me by the odd foot lick.

I suppose they like to lick all the smelly and sweaty bits of the feet. Which is disgusting.

They're animals. They're not 'disgusting'. It's natural animal behaviour - just how they communicate affection.

I'm not saying animals or dogs are disgusting. I have a dog myself. The act is disgusting though, for me.

I can't see that it's exploiting the dog, as some pps have suggested, as the dog is presumably choosing to do it.
I can't see how there could be any health risks for the owner.
Therefore, go for it if you like it.
Perhaps don't do it when you've got guests over for dinner, judging from the reactions you're getting on here.

maybebaby I am not remotely hysterical about animals, I love animals n have pets. Dogs lick to show affection = fine. I personally don't allow dogs to lick me but I accept that's what it is n wouldn't turn a hair at a dog licking someone's arm.

I do find it wrong on so many levels to allow an animal to lick feet . It is even more wrong to enjoy it .
