Getting a cleaner during my 1st trimester

I am pregnant with DC#3 and I am really finding the sickness difficult - a local friend has a cleaner and i am tempted to ask if she can also come to us, just once a fortnight until I start feeling better.

Would that make me a princess??

I can't really afford a cleaner all the time but I just have no motivation and my DH is doing his best but he works full time and we have 2 small children already.

Feels like such a 1st world problem! Smile

cherryblossom apologies - I wasn't suggesting that using a cleaner generally was princessy. I just meant given that I don't usually have one, would I seem a bit "ooh woe is me (back of the hand on the forehead like some dainty lady)" if I did it just because I was pregnant! Grin

My only reservation would be, what if you get hooked on her, and can't give her up???

do you pay someone to wash your windows? do you ever put the car through the car wash instead of doing it yourself? do you pay people to cook your food and bring it to your table some nights instead of eating at home? DO IT! a cleaner is no different to any of that!

Haven't read whole thread op but do it!

There are no heros when it comes to pregnancy sickness, my dh pretty much took over in the house completely during my first trimester, if he didn't work such flexible hours, I would have definitely considered hiring a cleaner!

Sleepy, no need to apologise at all. I was just trying to make the point that for some reason we women, mums etc. feel the need to justify or defend the hiring of cleaners etc to do jobs that shouldn't be ours totally to begin with. I only realised when I took on a cleaner how unfair that is and now encourage anyone who will listen to get someone to do the jobs you hate for no better reason than you don't want to do them. Life is too short!

Definitely get help when you are pregnant. My pregnancies were hell and I totally shut down for 4mths + each time. Barely able to go to the toilet let alone pick a crisp packet off the floor and put it in the bin. Don't apologise for how bad you feel in pregnancy, many people understand how hard it can be and the other people don't matter. Hope you get your mojo back soon. It feels great to come out the other size. But I must warn you, even if money is tight I suspect you will be unwilling to give up your cleaner once you have had one (and with a newborn, toddler, child, teen....you would be well justified to have one, not that you need to justify!!).

I do think if you can afford it then no problem at all.

We have had cleaners for years and I really think it's worth it. It is far from the most profligate thing that goes on around here.

Also, that person might really need the money, so it's win-win (just to make you feel less guilty).
