Does this sound okay for a 6yo ds bday "party"?

Money is very tight this year, but ds wants a "party" for his 6th.

He's asked that his friends come round, they have pizza and chips and they just play in his room/on the wii. With music.

He's invited 5 friends with some minecraft invites.

I will do party bags.

But I'm worried that it will look pathetic.

He's so excited though!

This sounds lovely to me. I think kids parties have become so OTT, they seem to be more about the parents showing off or creating photo opportunities for Facebook than about what the kids actually want. Yours sounds genuinely fun. If there's cake, music and balloons it will feel suitably festive, anything else is just window dressing.

My son had a football party for his 8th birthday - my husband took him and his 4 friends to the park for a couple of hours to play football then they came back here, had a McDonald's (yuk!), bashed a pi??ata and then we did the cake. They each had a party bag to take home.

I was worried it wouldn't be 'jazzy' enough (other boys were having goals party, went bowling or to Air Hop) but it was what he really wanted and they all had a brilliant time.

My husband was exhausted though!!

Sounds perfect to me!

OP don't make all the Minecraft decs yourself. Cut out lots of largish squares in Minecraft colours and give them each a piece of A3 card and get them to make the village. Then pin on walls. 30 mins of party time used up.
Your party sounds perfect btw.

Sounds great to me! In fact DS really wanted a home party this year but we've already gone ahead with arranging a joint one with a friend at a hall with an entertainer. Costing us a fortune!

I'd definitely suggest having some extra games as back up. My son is the same age and last year we did a halloween party for him and his best 4 friends and they weren't content with just playing and gruesome food, so hubby ended up frantically looking for games to set up!!

Hope your little boy has a fantastic party!

My DSs preference is to have his party at home, only once have we done a big party. This year he has chosen 1 friend to go out with to the cinema and have a sleepover. There will be cake of course but no party bags, dinner will be whatever we are all eating!
