Covering school excercise books?

Am I unreasonable to think that other than some sticky backed plastic , or a plastic sleeve. School books can remain plain?

My son's school (he just started yr seven) has demanded asked that all books be decorated in a something to represent the subject.

Is that really vital though?

Protective covers I get.

The rest , just seems like extra stress for him ( has Dysgraphia) and me!

Print something on a computer. Job done.

No printer at the moment though. :(

I just think it doesn't matter. Surely the work inside is? :)

Seems silly and rather unnecessary for exercise books!

Find some old magazines and cut them up?

I agree, art/tech homework for anything other than art/tech is unnecessary at secondary imo. The learning involved in 'make a Hindu shrine' gets lost amongst the stress of making the thing in my experience.

No it doesn't matter, at all, but it's a task so it needs to be done unfortunately. Could he use the printer at school?

Thanks for all your opinions!
I hadn't thought of magazines, then l could bind it with the plastic.
My son trips over his fingers, so it falls to me. Grin

Magazines, wrapping paper, wall paper even - i loooooooove covering school books. love love love it.

DD had to decorate her homework folder (yr6) with things she liked, so she cut out pictures of dogs, minecraft and dragoons and stuck them on, i then covered this with that sticky back plastic that either makes me happy or homicidal depending on if i get air bubbles or not.

I suspect it's to make each book identifiable, many parents just cover in one colour sticky back plastic/wall paper/brown wrapping paper and from a glac?? a maths book can look like a science book which can look like an English book which can look like a geography book.

And I suspect they've probably had kids turning up with their maths books to geography lessons and history books to science lessons.

So having something with an big blue and green planet on for geography, some numbers in colours for maths books for English stoos this problem!

*Stops this problem

Sorry typo
