With a myself here,
And a myself there,
Here a myself,
There a myslef,
Everywhere a fucking myself.

Why? Obviously people don't realise it is full of wrong. Hmm.

I'm fearful that the correct little old me is a dying species.

Yy that police are really bad for doing this.

People always says "and I" when it should be "and me" too.

For example, correct English is " they gave it to Lucy and me " not "they gave it to Lucy and I".

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 09/09/2015 18:35

It's called hyper correction.

It's fucking annoying.

TheTravellingLemon · 09/09/2015 18:46

HaydeeofMonteCristo I was going to mention that as the other one that drives me mad.

'They gave it to Lucy and me'

'I think you mean Lucy and I' [patronising face]

No. I. Fucking. Don't.

It's very common in Irish speech - are any of the people you know who say it from outside England? May be why.

pandarific · 09/09/2015 19:00

Actually, while we're talking about odd things that people around you say...

I have worked with several people who have said 'Well done!' in a very sprightly congratulatory way for very ordinary things, a bit ss if you're a particularly bright labrador - e.g.

'I've booked the meeting in for 11.'
'Oh well done!'

Has anyone else noticed this? Why?? Why??

redexpat · 09/09/2015 20:58

I myself agree.
