It was photograph day today.

The P1s were as smart as pins this morning when they went in. Then this afternoon they had PE, and skew whiff would be an understatement Grin

One of the mothers was muttering about the mess they were in, but I personally think there is a correlation between untidiness and FUN! DD had an absolute ball today.

Sounds like fun. Grin

I always preferred the school photos where they looked like they'd been up to something - instead of just having the same photo every year with just a slightly larger child in it.

SusannahD · 08/09/2015 18:02

Yanb I love it when they come out all mucky, sign of a good day with some good food. What's not to like, apart from felt tips which are the non washable, why oh why do they do that to me.

fkatwigs · 08/09/2015 18:03

DD emerged today with one bunch at the top of her head, one at her neck, shirt untucked, one sock up, one sock down Grin She looked hilarious.

As long as they leave the house clean and relatively tidy, the days a winner. I like mine coming out scruffy and messy as it shows they've had fun/ran around like a loony/done something messy etc etc.

YANBU.

Olivepip59 · 08/09/2015 18:22

Agreed. Long gone days for me, but I adored that Just William saggy socks and smudges look.

RatOnnaStick · 08/09/2015 18:24

Not quite school yet but DS2 came out of preschool after his first ever session on monday with a wet jumper, red paint in his hair, a lovely graze over one elbow and a great big Grin. Signs of things to come?

MouldyPeach · 08/09/2015 18:26

My 6 year old DD always comes out of school looking perfectly polished, either the teacher grooms all the kids before leaving or my kid's just no fun Grin

Hygellig · 08/09/2015 18:27

DS often came out of preschool like that, either if he'd had to get himself dressed after PE or if they'd been doing painting - I took it as a sign he'd had a good time.

MissDuke · 08/09/2015 18:29

My dd has the dragged through a hedge look before school Hmm drives me mad but I cannot seem to do anything to prevent it! She is just one of those untidy looking children Blush

RatOnnaStick · 08/09/2015 18:33

DS1, on the other hand, inclines to the prissy. He's not a messy boy by nature. The most out of place he tends to be is the occasional drop of lunch on his jumper.

BrockAuLit · 08/09/2015 18:33

Best part of my day is collecting a bedraggled preschooler at 3.30!

beardsrock · 08/09/2015 18:37

Love it when DS comes home covered in mud, the odd bruise and disheveled hair. It means he will sleep tonight!

Lambzig · 08/09/2015 18:39

My 5 year old DD is like this, an absolute scruff by home time. The only accompanying thing I don't like is that last school year we went through five pairs of extortionate school shoes.

Heehawheehawheehaw · 08/09/2015 18:50

I used to love it , for some reason I equate it with having a good time

BankWadger · 08/09/2015 19:08

This morning DS was instructed to wash his face, teeth and knees after breakfast.

DH still can't understand why I buy several pairs of shorts and trousers each year!

Toastedteacakewithbutter · 08/09/2015 19:14

My dc go to school in clean, ironed clothes, brushed and neatly plaited hair and pulled up socks. They come out with birds nests on their heads, dinner down them, crumpled clothes and fallen down socks. My mum thinks they should change out of their school clothes when they get home, but since their clothes are always needing to be washed, I don't see the point in dirtying a second set at home Hmm

RumbleMum · 08/09/2015 19:16

Absolutely YANBU. DS1 added to the mess today on the way home from school with blackberries and elderberries and looked like a vampire after an extra-gory meal by the time we got home. He looked like a boy who'd lived life to the full today, which is as it should be.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 08/09/2015 19:18

I regularly turn up to pick up the toddler from the foundation stage and he's sat on a bag of his clothes and dressed in clothes that don't fit, with a pair of massive wellies on and a jacket they've liberated from year one. He has a love of trying to crowd surf the water tray and will not listen to reason :o

munchkinmaster · 08/09/2015 19:21

My three year old comes home from nursery filthy, wearing half the sand pit. I had to play nicely and keep clean as a child and I envy the fun she has

SideOrderofChips · 08/09/2015 19:24

my youngest comes out of school vagually smart.

My eldest has always come out looking like something from St Trinians.

fkatwigs · 08/09/2015 19:27

Yes, this is a more eloquent version of what I was thinking!

My DS is only 2 but I LOVE it when he comes home from the childminder with sand in his hair, mud on his face, dirt under his nails and food all down his clothes, because it's always accompanied with a massive grin and a good night's sleep.

curlycat · 08/09/2015 19:46

P1 photos for the local paper here today as well

PurpleSkyatthewateringhole · 08/09/2015 19:53

Dd has just started reception. Wheras Ds came out looking chilled and neat no matter what sort of a day he had, she has so far gone in neat with her hair up, and come out with a halo of loose ringlets, one sock up, one down, t shirt untucked looking like all she needs is a mini hockey stick and she could be off to st trinnians!

IAmAPaleontologist · 08/09/2015 20:09

Dd goes in to school looking like she's been dragged through a hedge. She has some sort of strange force field around her which repels all attempts to make her look smart. I can get her school stuff on, do her polo shirt button because she forgets, help her tuck her shirt in, do her hair. Then I blink and her hair is falling out and looks like she's been through a hurricane, shirt will be hanging out and she will have dripped something down her jumper/sat in something.

She used to have really long, wild hair. Her teachers used to redo it several times during the day for her because no matter what you did to it, it fell out. She now has a nice bob but it is still completely wild.
