Sure he'd look funny for a few days...could get him a fetching parka to keep the cold at bay!?
I'm mainly just in need of a rant due to having to hoover again - he's washed & brushed but I swear I could make another fucking dog outta the hair balls from just the last few days! He's a daft sod so he's lucky I loves him!!

We had a spaniel because some dickhead told us they don't shed. You'd think we had fifty three pet yetis, the amount of fluff all over the furniture each evening.

Idontseeanytimelords · 07/09/2015 22:29

I recently went away with some friends and their spaniel for 4 days. Lovely dog, friendly, well trained - could have almost persuaded me to look at having a family pet.
Except for the hairs. Oh My God the amount of hair and where it appeared was amazing!

GloGirl · 07/09/2015 22:32

They need a pet blow dry to help de-shed the hairs. You can buy a super duper one second hand and do it outside, or just pop then in to a professional groomers a bit more often than normal

Mitzi50 · 07/09/2015 22:35

I often thought of shaving my old lab - I settled for a dog grooming attachment for my dyson. FIL dog sat for 2 weeks and didn't groom or Hoover - when we opened the front door we had to wade through swirling dog hair.

morecoffeethanhuman · 07/09/2015 22:42

He's not allowed at the groomers .... he got scared by their water (it must be different water as he's fine in the bath or with the hose in summer!) so he dived out and cocked his leg on reception desk, then did a protest shit in the middle of the floor, before running into the cage and refused to get out. I have never been called up to the school however the shame I felt being called to to pick up my misbehaving dog!!
But I bath him & blow dry him - bought a bloody furminater to brush him (40quid for a brush I only justified as it was meant to be ammmmazing!)
I hoover the kitchen easy 3times a day but wasn't long ago a friend thought she saw a mouse - turned out to be a hairball blowing along - FML!

We can't Hoover our dogs - they are scared of it - I have considered varnishing them.

morecoffeethanhuman · 08/09/2015 10:25

I so like the idea of varnishing him....eyes up the gloss as dog hides

Grin at the protest dump. We have a non shedding dog but have to carry him in and out of the groomers because he pees up the reception desk. Never imagined it could be in protest though.

purplewoofer · 08/09/2015 16:06

Same here. Big dog sheds like a yeti. She gets brushed and hoovered but the house is always covered in a layer of hair.

Strokethefurrywall · 08/09/2015 17:04

I had reached the end of my rope with my two dogs and got them shaved down a few weeks ago. Not having the tumbleweeds of hair to clean is a godsend.

This is dog bastard 2, dog bastard 1 is a mardy arse and doesn't like his picture taken. But just as hairy.
Had to sedate dog bastard 2 as he's terrified of vets and groomers (or strangers!) but the change in the both is immense. And it's 100oF here so that may have something to do with it...

I was told not to shave the lab ....messes their undercoat or something, wonder if that's one of those things ppl say don't but its actually fine - think I'm gonna google, unless one of u lovely people have shaved a lab with no dire consequences?
If not I'm getting the varnish out!!!
