I have posted in the job threads but i know there is more traffic on here.I am on a 19 contract and have been for over 10 yrs.People have quit and we have all had to do more which is great as dcs are teens now.I have said 30 would be ok as i have home commitments of the caring type for relatives and dont want to be off sick.
The rota keeps showing me as 40 hrs sometimes ive done 43.I have stated that this is too much at meetings and to my line manager.Months have gone by and i have 2 40 hr weeks on shift work.ACAS said a contract is min hrs so why should i do so many or risk my very good attendance record,HELP wise mumsnetters .My colleagues did 60 each last week but dont have serious homelife problems and dont mind.

What did Acas advise?

whatisforteamum · 26/08/2015 18:48

They said employers can add hrs up to 48 and a contract is for a min hrs !! The lady i spoke to a couple of months ago said they are breaching a contract with me.I have stated that 30 is ok on several occasions. With df dying and serious problems with Dh i feel like im going mad.(dh has some health issues too).

Does it say anything in your contract about overtime?

No

Your contracted hours will be your minimum guarantees hours, but thay doesn't mean they can ask you to do more and you have to do it.
Your contract will detail rules about overtime. When I was a student working in retail I was expected to do up to 25% and I couldn't refuse.

Find out what your employers policy is regarding overtime, how much notice you need to be given/give to not do it/do it. You have to agree to a set amount and stick to it, it sounds as if your manager thinks you are willing to do more than you really are.

I have just been offered a job i went for in the same area doing something similar if not better with fresh people who seem nice...the grass may not be better but tbh prob cant be worse.Rude comments and general unsupportive nature i may well risk the change as i have life savings to fall back on.
