It depends on your situation Flowers can you tell us more? Overall though I'd say YANBU

Eebahgum · 23/08/2015 14:13

I did that and it worked out well for me. When your health is suffering I think you have to prioritise that over other things.

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 23/08/2015 14:13

Depends on whether you need the money. See a GP to get help with the stress/depression.
Is the work situation anything that could be improved by talking to your manager?

Leviticus · 23/08/2015 14:15

I did it once and it was fine but it was the days before I had a mortgage and kids.

Could you get some temp work to see you through?

elliebellys · 23/08/2015 14:20

I do have dcs, thats what has made me stay there longer than i should have.financially i should be ok for about a month,so hopefully find something by then.

I have thought the same. Im married mortgage no kids. Ive got interviews lined up so keeping hopeful! Would you find another job in your field quickly? X

iAmNicolaMurray · 23/08/2015 14:25

Can you start looking for a job now? I know it won't be easy but would be awful if you ended up with no job for a long time.

elliebellys · 23/08/2015 14:29

I have been looking,i will do anything.i have never been without a job for long.it will feel lovely to not do long hours 6 days a week,nd the best part is the dcs will get to see more of me.these school hols havent been the best for them sadly.

It's much easier to find a new job when you're already in one. If there's any way at all you can hang on in there a little longer, I'd do so while applying for as many different jobs as possible. Good luck. Hope you find what you're looking for and feel better soon. Hating your job is hard. Flowers

babymouse · 23/08/2015 16:25

Try and stick it out a bit longer. It's easier to get a new job when you are in one already.

ilovesooty · 23/08/2015 16:28

I hope you get something else soon.

londonrach · 23/08/2015 16:39

Depends. It is easier to find another job if you have a job already. However if your health is being effected! Also do you have rent, morgage, children dependant on your wage?

OwlinaTree · 23/08/2015 17:01

Find something else first. A month is not long to find another job, start it and actually be paid. You could end up more stressed than ever.

Other option is to get signed off sick if it is really making you ill.

Sunsoo · 23/08/2015 18:55

Take some time off for anxiety, a week at least. You should be paid for this.

Is it just you feeling this way? Or are your colleagues unhappy too?

LongDistanceLove · 23/08/2015 19:02

It sounds like your job is making you ill. Now I wouldn't quit straight away. You need to find something else first, get signed off, you can self certify for 7 days, you would need a Dr's note after that.

Not having a job may make the depression and anxiety worse.

CrohnicallyAspie · 23/08/2015 19:57

I've done it, but only because I was 100% sure it was the job making me ill (it cumulated in me being assaulted and my boss saying it was my own fault!) and I had family support to fall back on.

Babyroobs · 23/08/2015 20:03

I would find another job before I quit. As pp says take some time off sick if you need to.

2ndSopranosRule · 23/08/2015 20:04

My job is making me ill. I've had to go on antidepressants which are finally kicking in after a few attempts and I have had a few weeks off (annual leave). When I go back I feel there's a good chance I can face it.

That said, I'm only going to face it for two reasons: 1) My GP has been sympathetic and has helped me get my medication in order (I've been on and off ads for years) and b) I talked to my manager.

The latter was difficult. I was in a terrible state. But it really helped. I trust my manager and it was a huge relief to get someone on side. What relationship do you have with your managers? Is there anything you can change to make things better?

Fwiw the Mind website has resources freely available about dealing with anxiety/depression at work. I've found them helpful.

whatisforteamum · 23/08/2015 20:08

I feel for you as i sometimes feel like this.I agree go to the gp for a sicknote and thinking space. Also one months money isnt much and the time will go quickly.I have enough to keep me going for over a yr but im still reluctant to just quit.My job trial this sat looks promising and i find out this tue. What is it about your job that makes you feel stressed? Is it the job or the colleagues.Mine is a bit of both.Morale can be so bad my line manager says daily he will quit it is awful.
