To go to out of hours gp for this?

Sorry, I know not strictly in the right place but need some advice pretty fast!
I've just noticed a lump on my DS (5) neck at the back. It feels softish and is about 2cm.
We are going away at 3am on Monday, otherwise I'd wait and book him a regular gp appointment.
Would IBU to get him an out of hours appointment? I know it's not exactly an emergency but I will most likely spend the entire holiday worrying and stressing about it. I suffer with bad anxiety as it is and could do without the extra worry!

If he's not in pain and it's not infected I'd ring 101. But it doesn't sound immediately threatening if it isn't causing problems

I doubt OOH would be able to do much.

I'd say it was a case of watch and wait with this sort of thing. Not much they would say otherwise.
Does he seem well apart from this? Swollen glands? Tired? Sick?
See if it increases in size over the next day.

If it puts your mind at rest seeing as you're going away maybe phone 111. I know anxiety levels can rise when you're due to go away I've been there myself!

If he's totally well in himself, it may well have always been there, you've just not noticed it. I'd phone 111.

I have a lump like that - I think - on my neck. Think it's been there forever. Ive never done anything about it.

If I was just going on hols for a few weeks I would make a GP appt for when I get back. Have much experience of subcutaneous lumps and none of them were dealt with urgently.

A swollen gland from fighting an infection? My babies always had pea lumps on the back of their neck.

Phone 111 if your anxiety will hate you for not speaking to a medical professional. If they say it can wait then you can rest a bit easier.

Hi, thanks for all replies. Phoned 111, they just said as long as he's well in himself (he is fine) to keep an eye on him. If still visible or bigger to see gp on return.
He really is fine, he's been running around like a loon!
My kids really know how to time ailments!!!

Is it below his ear to the back a bit? My DS has had one for two years. Its a gland and was as a result of recurrent tonsilitis and his immune system being low. We saw a consultant who said they're quite common and can stay up for years.
