I have found this comment of his distasteful. I fully appreciate others will too.
He is arguing against any holiday to Italy/ Greek coast because of this. Has he lost his marbles, finally?

We have a VERY big coast line.
Much of it is far nearer to Briton than it is to Lampedusa.
Personally I'm avoiding our nearest bit of the Italian coast cos it tends to be packed to the gills of people who sit on the same deckchair, under the same umbrella, on the same patch of beach, every single sodding year ...who two decades later still fecking refer to me as DH's "new" girlfriend (despite the wedding rings and hulking 15 year old we made).
Ships of migrants would be an distinct improvement. No muttering about the greater suitability of girlfriend 1.0 for a start. But up here where Liguria is the seaside of choice, the only ships are massive cruise ones who honk a lot and send unexpected waves to ensure I look very undignified at least once.

We're going to Kos in October, we booked for Tunisia-they had a revolution and we actually went about 8 weeks after it, it was fine. Kos will be fine, these are people who are desperate for help.
Tell your husband to watch a video of the Isis terrorists marching through a Syrian village dressed completely in black with their faces covered while locals look on. After seeing that, I completely understand why they are fleeing on rubber dinghies to Kos and Turkey despite knowing that they might not make it.
These are people fleeing for their lives not economic migrants who just want a better life.
The Greek people also need our tourism money in order to survive.
I do understand that your DH is probably just thinking that he doesn't want any unsettling fuss on his holiday but I doubt it will actually affect him.
