AIBU to cancel because of nits?

I was planning on taking my toddler to visit some friends this weekend. They have multiple school age children, who are charming, affectionate to the toddler, and huggy. Their mum has just announced on Facebook that they have nits, which are now being treated.

AIBU to cancel? DS has already picked so many bugs up from nursery, and I really want to avoid nits as long as possible. Not least because DS has longish hair and there is no way I could easily treat him without sitting on him.

AIBU?

Apples I fight a constant battle with nits and I think the op is being a bit U. My girls have long hair and I check through every week with the nitty gritty. Some people treat your kids like lepers (I'm looking at you sil) and it's not on. Op get down to super drug or body care and buy a repellant spray (the one in bodycare is 99p and does a great job).

All those saying YABU have clearly never spend 21 days straight combing their DD's waist length hair to free her from nits

Well, I have done similar but still think this is an over-reaction!
