So fucking angry! (Warning racism and Facebook)

Logged on to Facebook this morning to see a "friend" has posted a casually racist comment about another nationality. My DP, DD, and all of Dp's side of the family happen to be this nationality.
I called person up on it immediately by asking if they needed to use the persons nationality. They said yes and defended their use.
I'm dropping it now as don't want an argument on Facebook (I think it is crass but couldn't let it go by without saying something)
Aibu to be upset? This person is supposed to be a friend and is well aware of my DP and DD's nationality.

My relatives are currently at it on FB too, we're in the middle of a good barney about it. One of mine reckons that asylum seekers took her job, when in fact she went on hokiday and lost her zero hours "contract" to a woman who happened to come from Eastern Europe. I've posted facts, links to info, personal experience and statistics but they still stick to their collective belief that people camped at Calais all want to come to Britain so they can steal our jobs and ban Christmas etc.

I've decided that they're all too busy ingesting The Sun to be bothered reading anything with words of more than two syllables that challenges their third hand opinions. I've only recently reinstated one, at her request, after deleting her for posting Britain First tripe.

The amusing thing, which none of them have so far grasped, is that they themselves migrated to a far flung country in search of a better life 30 years ago. But that's different because, basically, they're not black.

I'm heading back into Delete and Block territory if they keep oosting shite.

MrsToddsShortcut · 18/08/2015 12:46

I'd block them. But I think, if you are up to it, I would also just post briefly and add something about perhaps not being clear in your earlier post, but as she/he is aware, your children and family are of this nationality and that's why you were upset/offended/surprised, because, as your friend well knows, they are clearly not morally bankrupt/whatever they originally wrote.

Even if it doesn't make any difference in the short term, you won't have to explain to them and/or their friends why you are so cool with them in the future. Idiots.Flowers

98percentchocolate · 18/08/2015 13:46

Deleted and blocked, thanks everyone. I went back and forth about messaging why I was doing it, but decided not to as she will never listen and I couldn't be bothered to spend all day arguing about it.
To the poster asking why I was asking if iWBU - it's because I was receiving text messages from my mum and sister begging me to leave it alone after I first challenged her message. That made me wonder if I was being oversensitive.

All the britain first stuff on FB really gets my goat. The poppy burning thing is a load of rubbish too. Those who suggest burning the Koran in revenge are the worst offenders. They don’t seem to understand that the poppy is essentially a fund raising tool while the Koran is a religious symbol. My reaction to burning a poppy is that if they want to burn it, it’s up to them, I’d be happy for them to burn a thousand poppies at a quid a shot as the RBL would be a £1000 better off.

YeOldeTrout · 18/08/2015 13:49

98%Choc, the person you deleted, what words did they actually post?

VulcanWoman · 18/08/2015 14:05

Unfortunately you can't argue with stupid. I had similar happen, pulled friend up on it but there was no mistake, blocked.
