To cancel a contractor last minute as he was driving dangerously

I've got a front porch that's supported to be done next week (job for three weeks). However the contractor tail gated me this evening and overtook me dangerously and was speeding.

I don't want to give him the work now. Would I be u to turn around and tell him this with four days till he starts?

I wouldn't want to use them. I don't know about the contract stuff. It's a shame there isn't a provision for cancelling if you find out the person is aggressive or a cock or whatever. I wouldn't want to use them either, op.

it sounds to me like you have got cold feet and are looking for an excuse to pull out.
just remember though that your builder will have to cancel his tradesmen who won't be best pleased and probably tell the other builders they work for.

It wasn't him drivign, but he was in the van. They overtook me doing 23 (on speedo) so 20 in a 20. Narrow road too.

Anyway email sent yesterday, I haven't so much cancelled but said I'm very concerned about the quality of their workmanship seeing as how they drive. No reply let. I have bought the bulk of the materials and they are sitting on my drive. Maybe I'm making life difficult for myself. But if it gets one dangerous driver to change its worth it IMO. Do want it done before the winter gets Jere though...

fwiw I think you're perfectly reasonable to react this way to them driving aggressively at you. update us when they get back to you :)

Interested to hear their response.

What time did you send the email? They're not falling over themselves to reassure you by the sound of it.

Although if they respond it will all just be rhetoric. Stuff they know you want to hear, like 'Oh gosh how we will smack the driver's hand and oh how we value your custom'.

Meanwhile they're probably just sat there eye-rolling. But at least you'll have made your point. And it's a point worth making.
