I have a significant birthday coming up this year, I normally don't do very much for my birthdays. This year is a milestone and I've decided to do something and that's the problem, my mind has gone bloody blank.Hmm

So MN what did you do to mark a significant birthday?

My 30th week in Paris with DP - his 30th was a week in aberfeldy with a new alternator as a gift (that was a surprise gift to both of us!Grin) I was on mat leave so couldn't afford to do anything else

My 40th my friends held a party for me. Not sure what to do for DP's 40th next month - will see

18th = dinner with school friensd
21st = dinner with Uni friends
30th = had a party
40th = got married

It was my DP's fortieth in June - we left DS with the grandparents and went away for the night, to a five star hotel. I also bought him a nice watch.

18th - I got myself a tattoo in the morning and had a night out with my friends in the evening.

21st - I had a party in mums house with friends and family. (Also got myself a piercing the next day as a present to myself)

30th- I locked myself away from the world in denial my 20's were over. I had no party, no cake and didn't put my cards up.

DH (age gap relationship) had his 50th a couple of years back and I booked a weekend away for us in a posh hotel in Berlin (his favourite city). I think I will do something similar for my next big birthday.

Going away seems to be the way to go for many. Places I want to go to
Cuba
Barcelona - been before but loved it would go again
Berlin
Copenhagen
Stockholm
Iceland
Italy - any part
Mauritius
Maldives
New Zealand
Hawaii
Canada
New York

What to choose and who to go with, dh means involving in-laws to look after children. He is also 40 this year but he's being such a miserable why do I have to anything sod that I think I'd be better off going with a friend. For anyone that thinks I'm being harsh on DH, believe after many many long years, dh is merely rebelling (in his little head) against this trend of doing something for your 40th. His birthday will arrive and then he regrets not having done anything.... that's how it's always been.

18th Party
21st not much
30th Trip to San Fran (was offered the opportunity to go with uni so said yes to the trip and just didn't have anything for my birthday)
Other birthdays are a meal out at harvester/F&Bs/Nandos etc
