Bloody bras!

Did the bra intervention, thank you knowledgeable ladies, but I never thought it would be so damn difficult to find bras that fit properly. Is it just me that's an odd shape, (please don't answer that,) or does anyone else find straps so wide you could[ tow a car with them, and wings and wires right up your arm pits? Angry

Same problem. Very common in women with short torsos!

Sunny67 · 14/08/2015 22:32

Glad it's not just me, could do with a short arse

Have you tried different brands and styles? I'm 5ft2 and don't have those issues after finding what works for my shape.

Sunny67 · 14/08/2015 22:41

I have tried a few brands and styles, some are better than others but I can't say that the ones I've bought are perfect. I'm 5ft 4 and my boobs sit quite high so the sides of the bras seem to come too far up towards my arm pits, both plunge and balconete

Have you been to Bravissimo and tried lots on?

Feline9 · 14/08/2015 22:42

Are you willing to order online? If so polish brands are really good for not stabbing you if you have high boobs.

Sunny67 · 14/08/2015 22:50

No Bravissimo near me unfortunately but I'm happy to buy online. The ones I tried from Figleaves were a terrible fit so they went back and I've kept three from Boux Avenue, they are ok and were in the sale so at least cheap if not perfect. Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look for Polish brands

I feel your pain Sunny, same here. I now have a couple of bras that fit, so finally I haven't got rampant sideboob combined with quadroboob tops and sometimes below-wire escapage too. All jiggling away and heading for my belly button. Why did it take me so many years. My problem is not the same as yours, I need the wires to come far round the sides and up high. I tried some Curvy Kate ones recently and the cups are too low at the side, end of the wire feels like a knitting needle being poked hard into my flab body. Online ordering and being able to return stuff is a lifesaver. Good luck!

Feline9 thanks for that tip.

shorties do find it difficult to get a fit
I am a 38 D (don't ask I thought the boobs would go the same way as the rest of me when I got older) and 5' 2"
cannot wear wired or padded or anything that creates a cleavage but have found that the stretchy (as advertised on TV) 'aaah bra' type things are good although one needs an extra large Shock
sloggi also do a good support bra for the larger boobs
really feel the bra manufacturers should not assume everyone needs pointy wired bras as we are not all willowy models with a cleavage to flaunt Smile

Short arse here too and I'm short between shoulder and boob. Took years to find bras that fit properly and I finally found them in Victoria's Secret in the shape of the Fabulous range. Expensive (??40+ per bra) but barely know I'm wearing it. Their fitters are pretty good too.

Everyone goes on about trying Bravissimo but I found their range HURT and did nothing for my shape at all and is sod all use if you aren't at least a D cup anyway.

limesoda · 09/09/2015 11:46

I am now evangelical about Victoria's Secret and their fitters. Honestly, it was amazing. They measure you, bring you a couple of bras to make absolutely sure the fitting is right, then they bring pretty much every bra shape they do to find the perfect one for you.

Honestly, its a revelation.

Rigby and Peller is the absolute best for fitting. It's expensive, but once you have been correctly fitted, you can get cheaper bras elsewhere. I was fitted there, bought a couple that I have worn and worn until the lace is tearing. Knowing the size, I also got one online in the sale.

I went into the shop wearing a 38 C and came out wearing a 32E. The difference it made to the appearance of the clothes was amazing.

I buy cheaper ones for every day and treat myself to a posh one now and again.

PatricianOfAnkhMorpork · 09/09/2015 13:43

limesoda that was my experience as well in 2 different stores. Was fab being able to test out all the ranges to check for fit and they even provide a t-shirt so you can see what they are like under clothes. They wash really well and are lasting so much better than pretty much anywhere I've bought from before. Some of the ones from the Very Sexy range are so pretty, particularly the jeweled ones.

Foxy I love a bit of R&P too. Only place I've ever been fitted without anyone coming near me with a tape measure. Little Italian lady at the Conduit Street store got me to strip to bare skin on my top half, looked me up and down and went off to get me a bra. Fitted perfectly. Came out with a very expensive bra (??90 nearly 10 years ago) but gave me an amazing shape.
