To Give Friend a Nudge For the Money She Owes Me

At the end of June we were in USA on holiday, before we left a good friend asked if we could buy some designer gear for her and her family. We took note of everything they wanted, bought it and brought it back. They were over the moon with it, loved everything. I said "the receipts are in the bags, add it up and change into sterling". She texted me for my bank account details and I texted her straight back saying "no hurry for the money, here are my details". Since then...nothing. We are now looking at 6 weeks and she hasn't transferred any money into my account. It's roughly £140.

I get that it was my fault for saying "no hurry for the money" but does anyone else think 6 weeks (2 pay dates) is a bit much?

Would I be U if at the end of this month I gently nudged her with a little text saying "my head is like a sieve these days! did I ever give you my bank details?" or something like that?

Advice welcome!

I'd just text and say 'I haven't had the money in yet, can you confirm which account number you've transferred it into just incase it's gone AWOL? Don't worry if you haven't had chance to do it yet, if you get it in for next payday that's fine'.

That way you sound like you're doing her a favour.

OP have you just got a text from Random? Grin

Quick and direct, don't make it a bigger deal than other needs to be:

Hi Friend,

I've noticed that money for the clothes is still not in my account, can you please send it over today? Bank details are XXXX in case you don't have them anymore. Thanks

girliefriend · 14/08/2015 13:07

ha I did this this morning as a friend owed me £20! Just sent a text saying any chance I could have that £20 back as i'm totally over drawn. She replied and said she had completely forgotten and would give it to me later today, all sorted.

Oh Christ you've just reminded me I owe my friend a tenner! Confused

Sorry for bumping my own thread. I finally plucked up the courage to text her today along the lines of "head like a sieve...did I ever give you those bank details" to which she immediately replied "Oh feck!, will sort it out tomorrow", she then phoned me and apologised so all is well. That said, still don't have the money Grin but it should be sorted by tomorrow.
