reverse osmosis water fountains should be provided at airports

They make you ditch any water and your only option is to buy bottled water that one creates more plastic waste and two means you have to buy vastly over priced water. Gets my goat. Family of four that's often 10-18 pounds extra.

I'm struggling to think of an airport that doesn't have drinking water taps somewhere post security. Not sure it needs to be reverse osmosis tho!

All bars and restaurants in an airport will give you tap water for free even if you are buying nothing else. So goodness knows why you are paying £10 for water. Plus you are only in the dart use lounge for 2-3 hours, get free cups of water and stop stressing!

Also, to get rid of water would mean that you're carrying water with you. It's hardly a new thing that you're not allowed liquids through security so I make sure I don't have any with me. Ta da - no waste!

But you're right that the price of water is ridiculous after security.

Well I've yet to see one in Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm for the terminals used by SAS and ba. Lhr does have them though.

Can't just use the tap, no temperature control so you always get hot water that's yuck.

I've been refused tap water from a coffee shop before. Is there somewhere that states they have to provide free water?

Thanks incan, I'm sure they don't have to provide it (in most countries at least). The amount of crap that gets spouted out as the truth on here!

Every UK airport I have been in sells a large (750 ml?) bottle for £1.10 ish, so not bad considering.

More than enough until you get on the plane and during a shorthaul journey. And don't you get fed and watered for free on long haul anyway?

Considering how expensive everything else is at airports, not something I can get annoyed about TBH. Next week my employer is having to pay over £30 for me to park a car at an airport for less than 12 hours - prebooked and cheapest I can find without parking miles from the airport on some dodgy carpark - now that is extortionate.

No you don't, you can take an empty bottle of any size through security with you.

I hate that the water in WH Smiths in airports is cheaper if you buy the Daily Telegraph than if you buy it by itself (ie. water + Daily Telegraph costs less than the water on its own). Then I end up having to throw away the newspaper, unread (don't want to read it). Such a bloody waste.

Just bring an empty bottle through, I do to decant juice for the kids. I always get an offer on water 2 bottles for Â£2. Super Drug, WH Smith all had a similar offer on when I flew last month. There's a drinking fountain outside the toilets or in the toilets in my local UK airport.
