For shaming a pre-schooler for having a dummy still?

www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3191650/Why-does-Harper-four-use-dummy-Experts-warn-David-Victoria-Beckham-s-little-girl-end-speech-dental-issues-continues-use-one.html

For those that don't want to click the link it's a story about David and Harper Beckham out together, looking like a really happy family, and she has a dummy in her mouth.

No matter what you think of dummy use or the Beckham's for that matter surely they shouldn't be printing stories about 4 year olds?
Makes me sad for her.

I dont get the big deal. The Beckhams want as much exposure as possible, sometimes a story will not be entirely praising them, like this one

but its all part of the game

EmpressKnowsWhereHerTowelIs has linked to a current media request by a Mail journalist on the burning issue of dummy use. There have been the usual insults.

It's still useful for the journalist to have posted because she will shrug off the insults and one or two people might respond by PM. Nothing ventured; nothing gained.

Why shouldn't the Mail talk about this issue?

We do on MN all the time.

There is currently yet another thread about toddlers being sexualised by their parents encouraging them to pout and calling them sexy and dressing in 'inappropriate' clothes.

As it happens, I don't think it's terribly wise but my views are more relaxed than most posters who veer towards the Mail view. That's okay for them to do that.

Apologies for a couple of TAATs and all that. But I thought it was relevant.

I think The orange one and Beckhams are the reason their dc are tabloid fodder, they use their dc as a brand. The orange one is worse as he uses only some of his dc. Angry

I loathe the Daily Mail. I think it manages to lower the national intelligence. Force-feeds people shit about celebrities and hate-filled nonsense that arrests critical reflection.

Why, why, why are you reading it? Unless you are 10 you CANNOT be surprised by this. It's like starting a thread to register your amazement at the coldness of snow.

The Mail is nasty propaganda wrapped in prurience and gossip. It is a poison that blooms in the dark heart of envy and self-hatred. There's no point in saying people should be ashamed to read it because that's the point: it is a limit experience where unbearable self-loathing meets projection into abhorrence and abjection.

In my darkest moments, I think that the DM only exists because all of those it sharpens it's knives on and incites others to hatred for are far too nice.

fancyanotherfez · 10/08/2015 12:21

Isn't there a thread every week dating the DM has reached a new low? As others have aid, celebrities can get their children pixellated if they want. The orange one only uses some of his children because the mother of the other one refuses permission for her to be in the press while using kp's children for publicity.

HowDdo2You · 10/08/2015 12:22

KP's children are allowed to be used as The Orange one made it part of the divorce.

No one is forced to read the Daily Mail.

It is not gavage. It is addiction or that thing we call obsessive picking at scabs.

Or maybe, just maybe, people enjoy it and some of those feel dirty afterwards and need to purge themselves on MN.

LazyLohan · 10/08/2015 12:50

Parents can stop pap pictures of their kids being used or get them to pixelate. But the Beckhams choose not to. So, meh!
