PIP Assessment - ID documents for a 16 year old!

DS2 (MLD and ASD) has been in receipt of DLA since he was 6; as he is now 16 he is being moved over to PIP and has his face to face assessment tomorrow.

I have been concerned about this and am concerned about what it will entail, but posters on the SEN board who have experience have slightly eased my fears.

So, appointment tomorrow (at home) and I have to provide 2 forms of ID or they "will be unable to continue with the consultation"; one from category A and one from Category B, if no photographic ID then 2 documents from category B.

Cat A
UK or Foreign passport
Foreign National ID Card
UK Photo Card Driving Licence
Passport
Northern Ireland Electoral Identify Card
Bio metric Residence Permit issued by UKBA
UK Travel Pass with photograph

Cat B
birth certificate, UK and Foreign
Marriage certificate, UK and Foreign
Decree Absolute, UK and Foreign
UK Driving Licence (old style, no photograph)
Naturalisation/UK citizenship certificate
UK Council/Housing Association rent agreement document
UK Council/Housing Association tenancy agreement document
UK Council Tax demand
UK Utility Bill
UK evidence of entitlement to State or local authority benefit

Luckily, my DS has a valid passport and I have his birth certificate, but what if he had no passport?

How many 16 year olds have 2 lots of Cat B documents, what happens to them?

Can the DWP really expect younger claimants to really have these documents? What happens to those who don't - tough luck?

DS applied for his provisional driving license in order to have photo ID to get a passport (and have easily portable ID with DOB and photo on it).

I'm inclined to think that an item of correspondence in the applicant's name from a government office should suffice for Cat B ID.

I hope the appointment goes/went well for you.

I'm going to scream!

After putting the dog into a different room early, ensuring the house was spotless, DS not being able to attend an organised activity and waiting for the assessor I called after an hour had passed from the appointment time to be told that "it had been cancelled as there was no assessor available".

When asked we we had not been informed, in fact we had a letter the other day reminding us (which included a sentence threatening that the claim would be thrown out if he did not attend without good reason) all CAPITA said was "sorry"

So we have to wait for a new appointment and go through all this again Angry

That is disgusting.

That's awful. I'd put a written complaint in.

I've got my suspicions about these delayed appointments.

My DDs DLA ended when she was 16 and she went through this procedure for PIP.

She lost out on three months benefit because by the time it was processed etc, they could only backdate it six months.

I got in touch with a former colleague when I worked for a Welfare rights organisation and many are losing out on undisputed entitled benefit.

The assessment was nothing like I was expecting, though, the Woman was lovely and understanding.

They accept the Carers proof of ID and if there are problems, they will accept a GP/Teacher/SW etc letter.

Just to add, I was shouting this at last nights "documentary" on DLA fraud, last night and shouting for him to leave the obvious addicts alone and stroll into the shops, he was outside and ask them why they think they shouldn't pay tax.

That's awful. It's really stressful for all of you.
Did they give you any idea when the knew date would be?
